very true, but again, I'm not an attorney, and who knows about what kind of laws there are out there...... Just today some kid is getting charged for "meowing" at his neighbor. True story, and only about 20 miles from me. http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/tribunereview/news/westmoreland/s_467270.html apparently the recent rash of herion deaths aren't important enough to be concerned with....... so we focus on this kind of worthless horseshit. I'm seriously moving to Canada. thats enough of a deterrent for me to burn this check. Do you know what happens in federal prison?
I'll mail you the stamps, the bags, and a scale to weight it out. fuck, I'll even include the envelope. and if you want, I'll put myself in a box and mail me there so I can pay you person to person. but you would have to pay the shipping charges to mail me back. I'd be out of money at that point.
if you had the money for all that you could just buy some fricken pot. and i like your signature, too true. wish someone had told my parents that
Yes, unfortunately I have quite a few friends that have spend quite a bit of time there. If they come looking for me I can always crash on your couch right? I'll bring the pot
as long as you have pot, you can stay as long as you want...... but you will have to get used to the poop piles in the kitchen.
Well, unless you've got a sentimental attachment to them I could always clean them up, and I've got a great nose for sniffing out pot. I've learned it's never dry if you look in the right place.
actually, its a huge sentimental attachment..... It brings back the memories of what my poop looked like 3 years ago. and thats special to me. I'm not convinced its totally dry around here either, I'm just convinced people are lazy and holding out on me........ which is why I bitched at people and lost friends over the ordeal. No big loss to me, cuz they didn't mean shit to me to begin with, only a hookup. When I get really desperate, I'll get aggressive in looking again, and find it. August is a slow month though, no matter how you look at it, cuz usually you could just stumble upon it almost anywhere.
Thank you everybody for your input. This check is dated for the 28th, which is Monday, so I have a few days to sleep on it. I'm semi-convinced I'm going to go through with this........ but I am hesitant. I just don't know.........
If you don't cash it you will always wonder about the cash that could've been. Shit, it's money you don't have right now. What is gonna happen if you cash it? Worst case scenario: you will have to pay the money back, which won't be to difficult, because you would surely be able to make payments and the cash would certainly help you out. YOu wouldn't be able to be prosecuted for it, because it is addressed to you and signed over to you, so it is legally yours to cash. Just cash it and see what happens, because like I said, you will always wonder about the cash that could've been.
The fact that it's post-dated somehow sounds like another area of shadiness to me. Edit- sorry, didn't read ganja's post.
sounds like those advertising checks those loan shark banks send out. real checks if you've already got an account with them or something but also kind of like a come on to get you to barrow from them or apply for a credit card from them or something. never trust a company with a 'patriotic' sounding name, no mater how ligitimately ligitamate it might otherwise be. i've seen this used by a drug store too, where what looks like a check is really kind of like a discount coupon that only becomes valid if you transfer your perscriptions to them. well i havn't read the rest of the thread. what you can and cannot be held liable for depends i should think on local caselaw precidents. i'm always suspicious of things that sound too good to be true too. ok, i went back and red the first post, though not all of the rest of them. ralph's IS a grocery store chain (here in california and probably elsewhere in the western u.s.). when albertson's (another gorcery store chain) bought the old luckey's (grocery store chain) and consolodated them into albertson's they discouvered some of them were reall loosers. luckeys were really mismanaged as to being organized to keep things clean and quality and like that. so anyway albertson's spun back off this chain called ralph's which was most of the old looser luckey stores. so yah, i can see where ralphs might have had some kind of promo drawing or something and maybe you somehow actualy were drawn or something, but more likely, i'm guessing this is some kind of a come on promo thing that was sent to whoever might happen to be living at your address. you need to take a magnifying glass and take a real good look at both sides of this so called check. hey if the're actualy giving you some real bux cool. but i somehow sort of doubt it. the only 'trouble' it's likely to get you in is being added to a junkmail list just like answering a spam email confirms that there is such a real address to send more crap to. just don't count on having the amount printed on it, or any amount at all, to actualy spend on anything you feel like or anything at all. it's probably more like a chance to enter a drawing for that amount of prepaid credit against groceries at your "nearest friendly ralph's" grocery store! =^^= .../\...
Hey Indy, For that much money, I would consider using a fake ID and cashing it at one of those money tree places so its cash in hand and they cant trace it too you. Otherwise dont touch it.
using a fake i.d. would be unlawful. and what makes you think those money tree type places don't keep a picture of you from their security cameras? no just try to cash it legitimately or take a really good look close look at all the fine details. dollars to doughnuts you'll find what i'm talking about or the cashere will. =^^= .../\...
I'd do a search on known scams. You never know how something like this can effect you. People have been ripped off just by answering phone calls and pressing a button or two. And don't cash it directly into your bank account, you don't want there to be any connection to your other finances.
