My girlfriend bought me a tin with soil and sunflower seeds to grow on my window sill. I am watching them sprout into little saplings, growing happier as they grow bigger. I thought that was such a sweet gift. Thank you moonlightdancer.

Thaks for the well wishes. Sorry yours didnt do so well. I think that mine is in ther perfect spot now in my windowsill. It gets a lot of sun during the day but it is late afternoon sun mostly. I keep it indoors, so wet or dry heat; it doesn't make a big difference. I just have to try not to over water it.

Try growing them indoors. The large ones you grow in the garden may have different requirements. The small potted variety can be placed in the house where conditions are easier to regualte. I have the small potted variety.
