Any other MMORPG junkies out there? This is a shout out for some gamer geek bios.

I started with UO around '96 and played pretty solidly for four years.
Around 2001 SWG was announced and being a SW super freak I camped the game waiting for gold. During that time I played Earth and Beyond for awhile (Which spoiled me for Eve, because I prefered E&B's twitchy flying)

Then SWG beta/gold hit and my love-hate relationship with the game began. 'They were the best of times, they were the worst of times' fits perfectly here. Guild issues and Sony fuck ups made things trying but there was some fantastic role play going on in my favorite universe.

I had never been one for Everquest but my guild leader in SWG had been waiting for EQ2 and finally I checked it out a few weeks before it's gold. I saw the Ratonga and dropped SWG like a hot potato on release day.

My hub and I ran an all Ratongan RP guild and it was a blast. But real life got in the way and we had to bail on it 6 months later. Then began my disatisfaction with most MMORPGs as I bounced from MxO, SWG, CoH, WoW and EQ2 again over the next year and a bit.

Now I'm back at EQ2 again. It seems to be the game I keep going back too. There's good RP and I really love the look of the game - which since I'm a screen shot junkie, was important and I completely enjoy thier crafting system (even more so since the big TS revamp)

AB is my home and if there are any others out there then give me a shout sometime.

So what's your history? What are you folk playing currently? Do you RP? What are your hopes and dreams for the MMORPGs coming down the road?

Post and wave your geek flag!!

I loved Diablo 2 while I was in Australia, but that ended on coming home
I played wow on and off for 2 months, then deleted all my characters and gave the account to a friend.

just not my type of game :p

There's always one in a crowd, ain't there?

I'm a gamer. I've always been a gamer. From rolling dice to fancy pixels - to give up my hobby because someone else judges it as worthless would not be True to Myself.

I've always found this attitude funny because most of the people I play with have excellent jobs, kids and a very well rounded life.

Of course assumptions and generalizations are always easier...

guess you are right on about assumptions - as I never suggested you give anything up or devalued what you do for a hobby - just put forward that I by far find the most exciting game and adventure to be life itself - did not mean to offend and did not expect such a defensive stance - I am not your enemy
To thine own Self be True

My perspective comes from not understanding why you'd chose to participate in a thread looking for other MMORPGers by posting about how real life is a better game for yourself. It's like having a thread to find other Christians and to talk about Christanity and someone joining in to say that Islam was a better religion for them. It wasn't really realted to my OP so the only point to it seemed to be to stir something up. (Of course I also forgot at the time that people post in threads 'just because' and that is the nature of the internet.)

So yes, perhaps it was my own assumption plus ye old lack of tone in internet text syndrome but honestly, to me your post did very much come across as thinly veiled " Get a life " in the way it was presented/read with the emphasis not seeming to be so much on the " I " part and that the 'O Wow' resembled sarcasm.

Your rebuttle was very clear though and I'm glad to find out that I was mistaken. Many sorries on my part. I wasn't looking for an enemy, just other gamer nerds. :p

Now that we understand each other more clearly - lets make this topical again.

Have you ever tried a MMORPG? If you ever become interested I can make some reccomendations as to game and some very fine communities to hook up with. After all, life is a great game because it also includes great mini-games such as these. ;)

Sometimes I think I take myself to seriously to play games - - too competetive for my own good - don't like looking incompetent - which when you start is part of the learning process - so I don't usually game. Both my sons did - role playing started with Magic (card game) and went into kind of a D&D - but knowing I was not into games we never shared too much on that.

Have a good one - enjoy - sorry if I sometimes come across too stuffy - I probably am LOL
