What do you all do to relieve stress? for me: the war, just the daily "2 more dead americans... and untold iraqi civilians dead" has taken its toll on me. its tough to even watch tv and read the newspaper anymore. I am a student and last year alot of times I would have to study for tests, then the next day I would read in the newspaper, that 2 more soldiers died. i would ask myself, why am I in school. I know I have a purpose in life, and want to change society, I am just majorly stressed out. It feels like the war have ruined my life. I have no skin in the game, no family members or friends in the war, yet it is horrifying to think of what our soldiers have to deal with, and on the flipside, what iraqi civilians have to deal with. The world seems so out of control right now. I worry my entire generation will be gone. How do you all deal with the stress of living in a world with war, sexism, racism, homophobia?
it's 1 of the first things man's done on this planet is murder, and for an inclean porpuse, It's not very strange to sea them killing each other since then !!!
well for staters i don't read the paper or watch tv for just that reason! I've found life itself is like a acid trip...... set and setting are a big part of the trip! spend your time thinking, reading and doing,..... positive things!
I don't watch the news, and I don't read the newspaper..simple as that. It all seems to be government fed lies anyway. We never get the REAL story, so to me it would be a waste of my time. I don't see that it benefits me in any way whatsoever to know how many soldiers have died, or who got murdered in their homes last night...it just gets to be overwhelming.
no way for me there is no way for me to ignore all what's going on iraqi - i used to think i can - yeah most of the propaganda released might not be true - but seeing pictures and video clips of it going on makes me actually read the stuff to relieve stress - well i guess i have to believe that things will change for the better
Get your hands dirty, go to the woods, stand in the sun AND the rain. Speak out, get active. This is the tip of the iceberg. It's gonna get worse. Stay strong, we're gonna need strong folks to help deal with things around here. The world is going insane. Need more caretakers for the mental patients! Improve yourself in whatever ways you can. It'll feel good...
To deal with that sort of stress, I have to limit myself to what I am exposed to... like, after a while, reading or watching about the war gets me too down, so I don't read or watch until something new and worthwhile comes along. I also like to get really high and temporarily forget about the whole thing. To focus on our reality all of the time is emotionally crippling, especially now. It's good to get some breaks. ~Nova
Well i am feeling the same way man, i have this bad feeling something bad is going to happen to us in the USA i just hope it doesn't. come on we need more love no war!!! Nick
How do I deal with the stress of living in a world w/ war, sexism, racism and homophobia? That's a biggie... I suppose I do my part by setting an example. It's probably one of the best things u can do... lead by example. Goes a bit further than just standing around and yelling about it, believe it or not. But how I relieve stress just on a day to day basis? The best way that I relax after a long day/week is something as simple as taking a warm bath or popping in a good movie and work on my knitting... knitting is a good way to keep my hands a bit busy too, I'm very fidgity!
Think of every single quality about humanity and the war and the world that you hate, and do everything you can to live your life the opposite. Do something to help those who are less fortunate than you are. Accept other people's lifestyles that you may perviously have had issues with. Love everyone you see, whether or not they love you back. If you believe in God, talk to him/her about how you're feeling. Talk to your family and friends, if that helps you out. Find something beautiful in the world and hold onto it with all your might, and use it in times of stress, whether it's a child, a pet, nature, whatever. Write. Read. Listen to music. Play guitar (or any other instrument). Make a difference. Take every opportunity you can to protest the war in a peaceful manner, and get your opinion out there. Get involed in a charity. The war will go on, regardless of how we may feel about it, but there are ways to deal with the stress ... and hopefully, if enough people show that they don't believe that war is the right way to solve problems, things will change. It's an idealistic thought, because there have been wars since the beginning of time, but things have to change sometime.
