My boyfriend just started growing and he's trying to convince me that if you crush up a birth control pill and put it in the water you use to water your plants with they'll grow like three times faster or something? That sounds kind of rediculous if you ask me lol. Does anyone know if this is true or not?
There is a pot myth that if you crush up birth control pills and water your plants with it they will all be female. In reality, synthetic hormones designed to regulate a woman's menstrual cycle don't affect plant sex. Keep this in mind whenever you hear something like that--if it were true, everybody would be doing it.

Yeah but you get really crabby every 28 days. Seriously, it's not a good idea to smoke female sex hormones. It has no positive effect on plant growth (or, as I said before, everyone would use it). Plants and people are different. That's why you don't feed your plants cheeseburgers and why people don't eat cow shit. In fact, I can only think 3 things (besides water) that people and plants both benefit from: seaweed/kelp, fish and blood. Most things plants thrive on from would kill people dead (like shit). And many things people ingest plants could not survive on (water your plants with hot dogs & chocolate pudding and tell me what happens).
lol dude slow your roll weve got into this before,i hear what your saying about plants and animals being totally different but ive seen the shit work i had trouble beleaving it too but it dose work....water just 1 of your plants with it and see for yourself
one time for an 8th grade science project i watered some plants with plain water and some plants with half water half milk... i dont remember the results exactly but the milk ones actually did as good as if not better than the plain water ones. these were pea plants though weed could be different
New ideas for growing come out every day. There is nothing new about the birth control myth, it's been around for a long time. Long enough to have been disproven long ago and busted down to "myth" status by any knowledgable grower. Listen to the Ranger man - if it really worked, everyone would be doing it (they're not). It would be the hot, new, technique (it's not). If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. The sad truth is that there aren't any "magic shortcuts" to growing Killer Buds. The only reliable way to get all female plants is with clones of good females. Feminized Seeds are even bullshit, too many hermies and up to 30% can still be males. RickityRock, if you really did get a triple growth rate, figure out what you did right - I gaurentee you it wasn't the birth control pills. It doesn't work for anyone else, that's why it's a myth and not a proven technique.
