Hey im looking for a good tube amp loud enough to be heard over a drum set without it distorting and im willing to pay in the 200 to upper 400s low 500s range for a good one, i was looking at the blues junior but its to small only 30 watts any ideas?

i am in the same market. i need a good amp. 50+ watts is what i want....a tube amp has to be cranked to get the proper tone.....and 50watts cranked is pretty damn loud. 100watts cranked is fucking too loud. so loud.

I have a 40watt Marshall DSL401, it's a great little all valve combo, and if your doubtful of volume - I play in a band (the drummer beats the hell out of his kit) and i still havn't pushed the volume anywhere near 10. It cost me about £460, check it out.

i had a Peavy solid state 212, and it was very loud, but the tone was terrible, and at random times the sound would attenuate like 25db, and then out of nowhere return. a real pain in the ass. needless to say, i returned it. i am now looking for a tube amp, but i don't know what to get. so many to choose from, but its such a hard decision. its like getting married. i want to throw down some money for it, but i got cold feet!
