Not legal but decriminalised. In portugal for several years now it's been the same, possesion of any drugs is tolerated but still not encouraged or 'legal' but you won't be arrested for possesion of small amounts of any drug etc. IMO this is much more effective way of policing and controlling substances as it leaves the police free to deal with real criminals instead of someone with a bag of grass or a gram of charlie. Not a bad idea at all as far as I'm concerned + the only reason mexico bowed out at the last minute was because their neighbour (the world police) told them what laws they can and can't pass in their own country.
^^^ it's not really tolerated, though if you can prove that it's for own consumption they don't send you to jail, they make you go detox instead. though when it comes to hash smoking it's no big deal, people smoke more or less openly at school and stuff
Well, I meant tolerated in the eyes of the law at least as you said, you won't get in trouble legally. I remember when I was in Lisbon a few years ago there was lots of hash everywhere and people smoking openly quite a lot... peace btw were you in Boom Festival this year Borat???
No, it would be a good idea. Prohibition of drugs is an infringement on our personal freedoms and liberties.
/\ Sure.. if you dont wanna take into account that it would have gotton them in bad relations with many many other countries, being as it would become a drug production center of the world (moreso than it already is), and again, other countries would be pissed, for lack of better words.
no i was at the sudoeste festival, which is at the same time. I wish that i had gone to Boom instead, sudoeste sucked this year.
mexico and canada were going to almost legalize the shit then pressure from that post turtle george bush made them not.. what a dick smack pressuring other countries to not pass laws they want to IMPEACH THAT FUCKFACE! CannabisEuphoria
Fair enough, I was talking about the idea of legalisation in general; regardless of individual country.
There may be consequences but at the same time do you feel it's reasonable and/or justified to bully other countries into having less influence over their domestic policy than their bigger more economically powerful neighbour does??? Not USA's business imo, just because a country takes a more progressive and realistic viewpoint on the subject of drugs than it's draconian friend who they happen to share a border with gives USA no right to pressure them into changing home policys, especially with all the problems in their own country which the government has just ignored. Peace
Who's they? Mexicans? Americans? edit:The mexicans do care I would have thought but what choice do they have when bullied?
