haha... no.. nothing yet. Just increased discomfort. More spotting, and just for fun I've added some intense hip pain.

I've come to the conclusion that he is waiting for the war between Israel and the Hezbola to be over... doesn't want to be born during a war. Now that the peace treaty has been signed, maybe we'll get some baby action!? Do you think I am giving him to much credit? lol... my politically inclined unborn child.. hahah

yeah, i am hoping he comes soon. But, have quit waking up every morning saying to myself "today is the day". lol. Am really getting tired of the numb fingers and constant hip pain though! Guess all that is just Natures way of making more ready for the actual pain of birth!

went to the doctor today. Am still only 1-2cm dialated. He is not engaged though! I have another appointment for next friday, and if he hasn't come by then, we will pick a date to induce.

So here is the question: Is there any point in trying to stimulate labour if he isn't engaged? What happens if he still isn't engaged by next friday? Am I looking at a C-section?

have lots of sex, lots or orgasms, nipple stimulation. There are many herbs that will induce labor, but I wouldn't try that unless your doc or midwife was helping you, I don't want to recommend something and inadvertantly hurt you.

Don't let them induce you with pitocin, it is AWFUL. I mean horrendous and painful and scary and AWFUL. ONce you're hooked up to pitocin, you are stuck to an IV pole. You will also have to be basically constantly hooked up to a fetal moniter. IN other words, you will be in bed.

And really think about letting them break your water. Once it is broke, if you don't have your baby within a certain number of hours (some docs say 24, some 48), they will give you pitocin or c-section. Plus, if your water is broken, many docs won't let you sit in a tub.

PLease have sex. lots and lots of sex. walk around. try EVERY old wives tale you have EVER heard. You REALLY don't want to be induced. I was induced both times, due to my water breaking and not going into labor on my own. Trust me it is AWFUL.

    Personally, I'd research induction.

If there is no fetal stress, don't really worry about getting him out. they can get dates wrong, fetal sizes, all of it.

So, work with nature! He'll know when its time to come!

Blue cohosh, 8 oz of castor oil (4 oz in something...i had a chocolate shake...then 4 more an hour later), walking, orgasm, sex, visualise...

    It WILL happen!

I know he will come. I am just worried because he hasn't dropped. He is still moving around, kicking and all that. As for the induction, I really don't want to be induced. The ultrasound's due date was for the 13th, but my doctor wanted to keep the "last period" date of the 19th to hopefully avoid having to induce... so she really doesn't want to induce me either.

Will he drop once labour is triggered? I mean, because he hasn't dropped, I am worried that if i do trigger labour via sex or another method that it will cause complications...

edit - nevermind.. did some research.. he will drop once labour is active

yeah, really do try all the old wives tales you can! I had pitocin with Leane half way through, and it was HORRIBLE! I would personally only insist that induction is used if complications arise. Otherwise, let nature take it's course. The dates from the ultra sound and period could be wrong, who knows? I had an ultrasound done on september 9th and my due date was for the 20th. It said that she was only going to be max 7 pounds and that she was due. I didn't have her till the 28th and she was 9 lbs 3 oz and she was healthy as could be.

I have a really good doctor. She has been my doctor since I was 10. She doesn't want to induce me. I don't want to induce. So, we are going to do everything we can to avoid having to induce me. Every week she has been trying to manually strip my membranes. So we won't be inducing unless we have to.

As for sex. lol. Tried. Turns out to be physically impossiable.. haha. I am too uncomfortable to relax enough to be turned on. Is it the sperm or the orgasm that triggers labour?

The thing is, nothing, not medicines, artificial hormones, wives tales, or anything else, that will get a baby out if s/he;s not ready.

So, like Kirsten said, until there is a medical necessity, don't allow an induction. Even if you're a month overdue....Sometimes babies just want to be in there longer. :)

that's great that your dr will use you LMP date, that gives you some extra time. do they have a policy of how long after the date they are comfortable with, like 1 week or 2 weeks?

sex is a really good way to start labour naturally and gently because semen contains prostaglandins, one of the things they use to artificially start labour. so even if you can just barely tolerate sex, it can be really helpful. heh-heh, i know that doesn't make it sound very appealing, but sometimes approaching it with a bit of a sense of humour helps.

i sure hope you can avoid the induction! and i hope you have a lovely birth no matter how it begins!

thank you! My husband and I are going to continue trying. The problem is that we've been separated since January... so we really don't know how to go about having sex, as the last time we did I wasn't all that pregnant.

My doctor is willing to go 2 weeks past my due date... as I said, she is a wonderful doctor who is willing to LISTEN to what I want. I realize that not all doctors are like that.

Last night we (husband and I) went for a walk. It was slow going, and caused me a lot of discomfort down there. This morning he seems like he is a little lower, so maybe it helped. We are going to go for another walk today sometime, maybe more than one! I really want to try and trigger this into action without drugs!

Good Luck! I know how much of a pain in the ass it can be, my daughter was 11 days overdue, and I have a feeling this one is going to be the same way. Just like evreybody said, sex is the best thing to do. I dont enjoy it one bit so I just tell my hubby to hurry up. lol. That sounded awful. But it's the sperm that thins out the cervix or whatever, so you dont actually need to orgasm. Also, if you have a breat pump, someone told me to use that because nipple stimulation is supposed to work really really well. I hope they dont have to induce! Good luck!

Got back home about an hour after we left. I am a little more dialated, but nothing significant. He is fully engaged though, so there are no worries. I am supposed to come back at 8 tonight if nothing has progressed. But, I felt my first contraction about 10 minutes ago!
