Yea, well, the same thing happened to me, although I wasn't left on the street, and I couldn't find any lawyer to do pro-bono work, and I looked for months. If he's the one with money and you're not-God help you, that's all I can say, because money's really the only thing that matters in court. I sure hope you guys can work things out, because the courts sure aren't the place to do it, especially if he has the kids and you have no money. I can speak from experience on that. I sure hate to see one more family break up. God bless all of you.
thats awefull, i wish there was something i could do for you . anyway civil law like that , try every university that teaches lawneer you....they usualy have some kind of clinic that grad students give advice ect .....good luck .
That is horrible! Sorry I do not know about many resources in your area. However I will ask around and see if anyone I know can give me some information for you. It is very hard to find pro bono lawyer in these type of cases. I can give some basic information but keep in mind that I do not know the laws in your state or the specifics of your situation so look into these things carefully yourself and don’t do anything that can hurt you later: Look up the phone number for the legal aid office in your area and see if they can help. Also, every state has a children’s rights legal advocacy agency (NOT Child Protective Services which is a government agency. You do not want their help unless you can prove your kids are being abused by your husband). You can give them a call and see if they will help you. I know that in my state, if you file for custody in family court and you do not have money for a lawyer the court will appoint you one. However, you have to file for custody first which (in my area) the family court clerk can give you the forms and help you complete them. That’s how it works my area so you will have to do some research to see if it is true in your area as well. Call divorce lawyers in the phone book. Even if you do not have money but your husband does they still might help you out (especially if he has assets). I know that in my state a spouse can not just kick another spouse out of the family home unless he or she has a court order. If you lived in my state you could call the police to get back into your home. If your husband makes a scene in front of the police he just might be going to jail. At a minimum it would help you out in court later. Anyway, let me make a phone call to see if I can get better information for you.
