In an effort to not come across as a rude, errogant American while the Dam (by the way i read thru several threads befor asking) Is it acceptable fire up one of them nice cones in a Night Clubs or while walking around looking at the sites? Any advice would help p.s. and tips on a tight place to trip on some shrooms (during the day)
shroom in Vondel Park. Most clubs allow smoking, if you don't see others, just ask, they are used to it. Use common sense and don't smoke where you think you shouldn't. Like around children or in crowds of tourists. I smoke everywhere all the time pretty much. Nothing like riding a bike alongside a canal with a big spliff leaving a smoke trail. That is living large.

although amsterdam is known for the softdrugs......there are always people and clubs that HATE the guts out of smokers.....beware of that!

I don't know if you already went to amsterdam, but smoking weed on the streets is quite common and still legal, except for one city district (not one you'd probably go to anyway): 'de baarsjes', they recently started the experiment of disallowing weedsmoking in that part, in the centrum you're fine doing it, same goes for all the parks, squares etc. Don't blow it in people's faces though.. In nightclubes/cafe's/bars it depends which one it is if they allow it or not, you risk getting kicked out but often its acceptable. Look out for other people smoknig spliffs in there, if they do you can. As said before: vondelpark for shrooms, its definatly one of the best places.
Weed smoking is NOT legal anywhere in the Netherlands. It is only tolerated. No laws on the books that allow you to smoke anywhere. Smoking marijuana/hash on the streets of Amsterdam is very uncommon. Seldom when you are walking down the streets here do you smell burning marijuana unless you are passing a coffeeshop. Now I do often smoke on the streets/parks/bikepaths/beaches/ect. in Amsterdam (lived in Amsterdam full time for 9 years, been visiting since 1973 ). I am a little discreet most times, not smoking around children or anyone else who I feel might be offended. The police rarely say anything if they do find you smoking weed. The police in Amsterdam have stopped several of my friends smoking pipes in the streets due to crack smoking, but have just told them to put it away. I've been to many nightclubs and have never been told I can't smoke marijuana (Bourbon Street is an exception ). And if there is a non smoking nightclub, they should warn you first before any removal.
one of my favorite things in all the world is walking down the straat in my beloved A-dam with a big fat J on fireoony. puff puff give. I know it's not "legal", but it is decriminalized and no one gives you any shit about it, so long as you're not being a dickhead about it. Ergo, don't go into a library and toke up = stoopid.
two of my friends went shrooming in a smartshop, called consious dreams. I think they are okay with it as long as you keep it quiet, mabey you should take someone with to keep you quiet. a warning: some tourists came in and were very loud. my mates had a very uncomfortable trip due to all the noise. i guess that the vondelpark is a better place to do it
i saw a guy tripping balls outside of whatever smart shop is across from what used to be chocolatta. He was a total mess, and eventually there was like 10 cops talking to him, they all huddled up and he just started walking away they were trying to see if he was ok or needed help but he was so out of it he was just talking in circles and saying things that made no sense. Was a riot to watch and after @10 minutes the cops left him alone as he wasn't bothering or hurting anyone other than himself (i was quite amused) and he just sat there for the rest of the hour or so i was there and stared at his hand waving it around. There are a bazillion coffee shops. Nip into one of them. If you have your own already, buy a drink. I like hot tea with mine - soothing somehow. You're with cool people doing what you're doing - probably some good music - free tips and papers - and, this time of year, it's warm. I've smoked in the park, but I stick to indoors if it's chilly. To me, the only reason to do a doob on a busy street is to say you've done it. Big deal - I've done the same in Toronto; as have many others.
