This festival took place on August 4, 5, and 6th of 2006 in the small town of Empire, Michigan. Empire is a villiage nestled between two of the largest, most magnificent collection of sand dunes in the entire world. The bands included Tom Constenten and friends playing a tribute to Vince Wellnick (you deadheads should know who i'm talkin about), Electric Hot Tuna, Greensky Bluegrass, The Peter Rowan and Tony Rice Quartet, Steppin in it, The Lonely Jones' (formerly known as Potato Moon), and Cornmeal. By far the best show that was put on happened saturday night, Peter Rowan and Tony Rice played a killer set, followed by Electric Hot Tuna. After Hot Tuna, and band played by the name of Cornmeal, and let me tell you, these guys know how to put on an energetic feel good bluegrass, dance your ass off show. after all the music on stage both friday and saturday nights there was folk, bluegrass, rock and roll music being played in the woods for hours upon end. This festival is one of life's great pleasures and when they hold it again next year, anyone who enjoys a good summertime music festival should visit. I took a ton of pictures there, and want to share some with everyone. Enjoy! First, the Roster of this years trip. Me enjoying my wine Brian 'J'
