I just wanted to know which city is thought to be the best in the Uk by us Brits?

I vote for Manchester or York :)

    Oh, I do like York!

It's kept a certain charm and quaintness..

I like Belfast.. So much character, and the people there are genuinely friendly... I really need to go more often...

    Brighton :p

But then I would say that.

I's quite keen on Brissle, nice atmosphere and some fun people down that way (accent's funny too). Lots of the west country's very nice actually but I'm not the biggest anglophile by any stretch of the imagination and there's too many nice places in the EU to live over crummy old blighty. Give me Berlin or Barcelona or Milan any day of the year.

That said, as long as I'm in the uk I wouldn't live anywhere other than Brighton. Good culture, people, nightlife, daylife, parklife, a nice sense of acceptance and inclusion no matter what your lifestyle/preferences (unless I disapprove of course hehe). Bad people, council are shit, 'nu-Brighton' people media type morons from London with Hoxton Fins coming to raise their kids with names like Romulus in comfortable leafy semi-detached places where, for their convenience tesco will open a nice place 2 mins around the corner for them to drive to. Oh, yah, we live in Brighton now, it's, like, so much more chilled and easygoing than London, ya, you should move down here too and bring up little Ophelia blablabla.

Still love the place though and wouldn't live anywhere else :) :)

Haven't been everywhere in the country though so my comments are based purely on experience...

It's gotta be Cambridge for me, lovely place, with a great eclectic mix. The best of many worlds....

    Haha you knows it :D

As for Glasgow, I can't really remember much about it because I was only about 5 when I visited, however I do remember it being very grey and similar to Plymouth.

I'd quite like to visit Scotland again. I've only been once, when I was small. The Highlands were amazing.
