There have been numerous gay artists throughout history that, aside from contributing treasurable masterpieces to the world, have affected mankinds perspective on homosexuality for the better. Does anyone have a particular favorite? And by "artist" I mean to include all things like painting, writing, acting, filming...and whatnot. My personal favorite has to be Allen Ginsberg (as seen in sig), a poet who treated his sexuality as completely normal, forcing the reader to do the same. And John Cameron Mitchell did a fantastic job playing Hedwig in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch". Love that movie.
Oh, I love Randy Harrison! LOVE HIM! LOVE HIM! LOVE HIM! Pity he only likes to do stage performances. He would be excellent in a big budget movie I'm sure.
David Bowie is bisexual. He is one of my favorite musicians, and I have seen him perform about 4 times. In the 70s he he really pushed gender boudries.
Fred Hersch is an unbelievable pianist. He doesn't bring the fact that he's gay to public attention, which I admire. He doesn't consider himself a "gay jazz musician," just a jazz musician. I mean it seems obvious, but at the same time, a lot of people would categorize him as such.
There are many gay artists that I respect for their work and then there are some that I think are just damn hot!! Like Elton John for instance I really respect as a musician, and George Michael. Then there are hot artists like Madonna (bi?), Bowie and Dangerous Muse who get me revved up.
The Dykon of my heart: Joan Jett. *looks at her name* I guess I better give a shout out to Walt here too. *grins*
