Is it possible for poison ivy not to show up for ten days after you've been in contact with it?

Also, the blisters that I have...should I pop them and clean them right away or leave them alone?

My arms, legs, and feet, are itchy :(

I didn't think so, but I know the oil can get onto clothing/shoes and last for a long time, maybe thats how it came on so late. I was always told not to pop the blisters, a very hot shower always helps the itching

It is weird because I have it on the underside of my arms and on my feet and ankles. I was weeding out a section of my grandparent's yard and didn't realize what I was pulling out at one point (I had gloves on)...and my dad says "Hey, Annie, watch what you're doing." Then I realized it was poison ivy...This was two Saturdays ago.

I was wearing boots with socks, and long pants...yet, I have it on my legs and ankles. I haven't worn any of the same clothing since. In fact, I did laundry the next day and haven't worn the same socks or shoes...

My boyfriend got it really bad and I have a feeling that he may have given it to me...He says it wasn't possible, but I say that's about the only way I could have gotten it.

Oh and the doctor told my boyfriend NOT to take a hot shower...it makes them itch worse.

Nope, it's possible for him to give it to you. My boyfriend was a scout all throughout his childhood and teen years and when we went to the river last summer and I ended up breaking into a bit of a rash a few days later, he told me that he'd come home and look at it, but if it was poison ivy, we'd have to cut the touching and stuff until it healed. Turns out it wasn't poison ivy, thank god...I'm allergic enough as it is to all the nasty little weeds and junk in the area, I'm constantly in hives, I can't imagine what it would be like if I trampled through poison ivy as well.

It's the poison whatchamacallit oil that gets ya.

Contact w/the oil from clothing/ tools/ animals/ smoke/ etc as well as direct contact w/damaged plants (especially the roots) will nail ya if you're not immune to it.

Wash everything twice (hands/ clothing/ even showering) to insure the oil's removal.

I've heard there's a two hour window to was the oil off... I've also heard that's bs - there is no window.

Haven't been able to get a straight story on how long the oil is potent/ active.

Seems poison oak doesn't bother me - fortunately that's primarily what's found round here...

Not direct contact, but the oil can seep into your clothes and fuck you over as much as 2 weeks later.

Don't pop them, but they to keep the blisters clean. Use a rag didped in cold water for the pain and itching, and Calamine lotion. Be careful what kind of lotion you get, topical anti-histamines can make it worse.

Sorry about that. Poison Ivy sucks.

I didn't have to pop them...they ended up popping by themselves today...soaking my long sleeve shirt that I wore...

    They are itching like crazy.

A lady I talked to told me about this soap called Fels-Naptha...it's a laundry bar soap that they use to use many years ago when women would wash clothes with a washboard. Anyway, a guy who cuts trees uses it when he has poison ivy because it dries it right out. Hopefully it helps...I'm willing to try anything right now.

Some folks' reactions warrant a trip to the doc
for a shot of something... cortisone(?)

I've never had poison ivy ever in my life...and I live in the country and have spent many of days out in the woods...

I guess our bodies change as we get older...of course...I'm still not sure how I got it.

My bf says that if it's really bad it can get in your bloodstream and can spread even worse...That's why he went and got on medication right away.

I heard it can take 24 hours to 14 days to show up after contact. I got it this year and it took about 24 hours for me.
