Regular drywall? Pencils should be fine. What are your ideas so far?

or you could use watercolour pencils... gives you the control of pencils like you want but turns to watercolour with a little water. I used them on my walls as a teen

when i painted on my wall i drew out a pattern/picture then cut it out of cardboard or assatate (SP?) and then sprayed or painted over it. gives dead good definition and solid lines. also on one wall which is red i have covered it in song lyrics with silver pen.

I'm not to sure how well pencil would work, it doesn't seem like it would realy last because over time I could imagine it would get all smudged an djust look like crap. although I've never tried it so I may be wrong. if you plan on doin a bit of shading on your wall and you can master stippleing I'd say use ink. but my first chioce would be using oil sticks, just these thick sticks of oil based paint. its not exactly a pencil but you can draw with it just like sidewalk chalk. you cant do a whole lot of fine detail with them though.
    -good luck

I used pincle on my wall art. It's a little difficult at first, but you'll get use to it. And after you draw it on there you can spray krystil clear over it to protect it from smudging. Good luck!

if you're using a pencil trying to fill a entire wall its going to take forever. Not to say you couldn't do it, but making a pencil image look good on an entire wall will be very challenging and time consuming. I'd just say painting because if you're just going loose it can be quite quick in comparison. my friend and i did most of my wall in about 30 hours i think
