The following is a excerpt from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_dog : In recognition of the valuable role these animals play in police duties and the dangers they face, there have been a number of measures to ensure their protection. These include outfitting dogs with bulletproof vests to protect them from guns and some areas have passed laws that make attacking a police dog a felony (in New Jersey, after a police dog was killed on the line of duty, the NJ General Assembly attempted to pass legislation that would treat the murder of an on-duty police dog as the same as the murder of an on-duty police officer, allowing the state attorney general or county district attorneys to pursue the death penalty). idk wut anyone else thinks, but thats fucked up. first of all, its animal abuse - why because they r EMPLOYING ANIMALS! r they being paid? how does this work? does the dog even get a choice whether or not it puts its self in a dangerous field? i dont think so secondly- a police DOG has an equivalent LIFE VALUE as I DO? WTF i dont think so, wut if a dog KILLS ME so it gets put to sleep? that makes me feel like my life has been respected in the court. the dog doesnot have any use for a paycheck, therefore i guarantee the police department is not giving the equivalent repayment to the animal; so lets see -no choice -no pay, if the dog is equal to a human than that should be consider either DRAFTING OR SLAVERY. but no its not, so therefore the dog really isnt equal to a human; and most importantly CANNOT BE MURDERED http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/murder Murder - The unlawful killing of one human by another, especially with premeditated malice. AMEN i desirve a bowl
Animals are in many ways superior to humans in that most of the time they do not behave based on greed as a motive. I don't know where I stand on the proposed legislation. I really don't think it's necessary. I don't approve of the death penalty, so I don't see the necessity to make it's implementation easier.
Everytime I see two dogs playing greed is their single factor. When my brothers dog and my dog meet, my dog will walk around and collect all his toys and protect them. If that isn't greed then I don't know what is.
My guys don't do that in fact they will take a ball or toy over and drop it in front of a new dog. Maybe its a question nurture vs nature? And they even do similar activities with cats.
You'd like to believe that, but I think man takes it a step above every other life form and is proud of it.
Want to believe all creatures view life in the competitive vein man does currently, than explain why this dog and her pups allowed a varmit to nurse and be nurtured without being threatened? Maybe it's just testerone charged males that have a problem with accepting the rest of the world as valuable.
If that makes you feel "big" fine for you but don't ask the rest of the world to make you feel like a man....I think that's one of the reasons wars are started.
I dunno, this dosen't make much sence anyway. The reason they put this law into effect is not because it's "killing an animal" or such as that, but because it's killing a member of the police force. We as humans, need the aid of these brave and daring dogs and cats and animals. They have abilities far beyone that of our own. Their smelling and hearing can in no way compare to ours. It is us who need those animals. So, when someone kills a part or the police force, they are jeprodizing human life and society. Thye are killing an important part of modern society.
A policeman's life is no more valuable than anothers as far as I am concerned. In fact for someone to join a police force they should acknowledge the risks of the profession.
Thats bull shit. A policeman is doing something that you would never have the balls to do. He/she is doing it to save your ass. Without our police force our life would be chaos and it's plausable that you wouldn't even exist. You're mother would have been killed or your could be killed. Without those who look after us. Who have bigger balls than we do, we couldn't live in this nice cozy life we have now. You woldn't have your computer to type on either, or your air condition, or your car. Civil life would not exist. Humans would be reduced to living in trees. BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH. The world would fall apart due to chaos. Period. We should be thankful for those who look out for us and do their duty to make this world peaceful and livable.
Bullshit. Look at how many cops it took to beat up Rodney King. Cops are not gods, they fill a job, and should accept the risks of that job. And if you have ever been to a college and met the candidates that wish to be law enforcement, don't paint them as saints or superior they aren't, far from it. It's only with checks and balances that some of these people are kept in check. My mother would have never been killed by any thug, she could have busted the balls of any squat that threatened her. People have to accept responsibility for their own lives.
I've had to guide a calf into a truck for one of these brave policemen, because he was afraid of a cow that was running lose. Get real, and don't label people as saints. Saints are a myth. They are people filling jobs and some are better at them than others.
No one life is worth more than another. Fall into the trap of thinking so, and you make war possible.
I love when people cry abuse for service animals. Ever known a parapalegic? Their lives are improved with the help of both dogs and monkeys who are trained to help them. Not only do they gain an aid, they gain a friend. Many service dogs are shelter dogs that were deemed perfect to be trained. They then get homes. OH-EM-GEE!! THAT'S SO AWFUL!! Do you know how many human(and animal!) lives have been saved by using service animals? Thousands if not millions over the years. Survivors were pulled from the wreckage of both the OC bombing and the 9/11 attacks because dogs sniffed them out. Police dogs have chased down and caught many criminals who human officers weren't quick enough to catch. They sniff out criminals and bombs. They stop illegal drugs from entering the country. Police dogs and horses are valuable members of society. I would even go so far as to say they are more worthy of life then many people...especially criminals. Even PeTA isn't against service animals.
ya thats true, i realized that theres service dogs that help civilians alot as well as dogs the may endanger; i guess its just a trade off, although i still think that police dogs are treated unfairly because their job is so dangerous (they need bullet proof vests) theyre put in dangerous situations without a choice, of course HOW would they choose to and HOW would the understand the decision...
Can only speak of the bitch I gave Customs. She really did get off on her 'job' (contraband detection). She was a natural. Really do miss her to this Day. RIP...
