Some of you might be surprised to see a thread about rave music in a spiritual forum. And also to learn of my own great liking for some of it I can only say that discovering the dance scene in the 90's was for me a completely mind blowing experience. I don't take nor have I ever taken any of the drugs popularly associated with the rave scene other than herb and lsd. I don't take ecstacy. coke, speed or recommend others to do so. However, what is behind the whole thing is dance. Dance energy of a new kind, something one cannot experience dancing to any other type of music. For me it was an intensely spiritual thing when I first stumbled upon the underground rave scene here in the uk at a small festival. I SIMPLY COULDN'T BELIEVE IT at first! It seemed to me that all dance ever was here.....It's something you have to experience really... Later on I still couldn't believe it - even after meeting with many other ravers. However, when the energy happens at an event, there's no disbelieving. Since that night - one of the best and most significant of my life, I've been to many underground parties, raves as well as larger events. I always have a very positive experience. It is absolutely fabulous :sunglasse My favourite idioms of rave music are psi-trance (goa-trance) and the more sophisticated house music. I can put up with some other techno stuff. Cj Bolland - The Prophet. I'm here to tear down everything around you, And you know what i'm going to replace it with? God. the world of god. So take your bread and give it to the poor. What difference does it matter what you own? You have gold and silver it's going to rot, And that rot is going to eat away your heart. All of you. there will be a flood and there will be a fire. Everything will be destroyed. But there will be a new ark riding on that fire and i hold the keys, And i open the door, and i decide who goes in and who doesn't. You think god will answer only to you? He doesn't. God´s an immortal spirit who belongs to everybody - to the whole world. You think your special? God is not an israelite. In the desert the baptists warned us, god is coming. But i'm telling you it's too late. He's already here! I'm here. And i'm going to baptize everybody...with fire! Come with me... In the name of the prophet, In the name of jerimiah, the father, In the name of the most holy... I call you here! From the CD 'Analogue Theatre'.
Sort of the same happened to me when I started to listen to this kind of music... at times it's quite hypnotic and full of power, full of energy... and kind of liberating =) Creamfields really rocks... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creamfields I just love all the DJs and musicians who play there esp. Paul Oakenfold, Hernan Cattaneo, Sasha also The Chemical Brothers, Moby, Bjork, Paul Van Dyk, Schiller... and so many others =) Also chill out (lounge/ambient) music is quite spiritual and trippy =) ♥ Love ♥ V
I agree about Creamfields - I've been to the fest a couple of times in previous years, although this year I won't be going as I have another event to attend in a working capacity. Also agree about the DJ's you mentioned - love Sasha and Paul Oakenfold esp. Oakenfold was one of the originators of the whole dance music thing here in europe. A regular UK event or 'community club' I like a lot(kids are allowed in free accompanied by an adult) is London's Whirl-y-Gig. http://www.whirl-y-gig.org.uk/news.html IMO a lot of progressive house music is very trippy and has a good positive spiritual message, but my fave idiom has to be psytrance - PLUR. - Peace, Love, Unity, Respect. BBB.
I'm like when all of them come to Buenos Aires. I think Creamfiels is one of the nicest electronic fests. There is never trouble with people or with the organization of the event. I fell in love with his music the first time I listened to it. Oakenfold also made a mix version of Tubular Bells in his "Get Em Up" (feat. Ice Cube) song in Bunkka album (2002). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oakenfold Oh, thanks for the tip! Totally! There are so many branches that I mix them all... but I surely love listening to them =) ♥ Love ♥ V
