I just got off birth control pills (ortho tri-cylcin lo) last month, and have had my first month of a completely natural cycle since I was 14. That's so long, I don't even want to think about it! Anyway, my period this month came a little early, lasted about 3 days, and was REALLY light. There's no way I'm pregnant, so I'm thinking my body is just readjusting to doing its own thing. So for all you women who have gone off the pill, was your period really weird the first time around? How long did it take to get back to somewhat normal? Thanks!

I was on the pill about eight years. It's fifteen years later, and my cycles still aren't regular like they had been before taking birth control, but I also took a round of Lupron in 1999 for my endo, which messed things up even more. I'd say my cycles somewhat evened out after about three or four years. that first year off bcp my cycles were really bad out of whack. As with everything else, each woman reacts to hormone meds differently.

I got off of ortho tricyclen lo in May, and my first period was a little strange too. But after that first month, everything was back to normal. I had been on birth control since I was 15, just to let you know! I guess we're in the same boat. But it's definitely back to the way it was before I was on birth control.
