Why does the full moon cry tonight,
looking down at me with eyes of sadness deep as craters,
on its dreamy surface so many thousand miles away?

Why does the moon cry tonight
Is it for you, is it for me?
Is it the burden it carries
in fear that it is too much for us to bear?
Are you sharing with it the tears your real self hides
in the night as you are laying there?

Why does the moon cry tonight
behind its blanket of velvit dreams?
Why does it look as though it's longing for a treasure
not yet found but almost in reach?

I see the moon in its entire emotional tide,
It knows me so well, you know that this is true.
    And presently we are apart,
there is one who sees us both
    and keeps us magickally connected.
There is one who stands alone for us
reflecting the pain of our struggle.
And a light that will not die for as long
as the faithful sun always shines.

Why does the full moon cry tonight?
    Because it suffers with us,
    it feels for us,
it lifts us, and it absorbs our every energy,
    and as an unbreakable promise
it will never abandon our hearts.
The moon cries tonight for us, so we dont have to.....

A very interesting use of the image of the moon. In Eastern traditions the moon often represents the mind, while the sun represents the infinite consciousness.
