I can't find words to even begin to describe this one... but I think that's the most patriotic scene I've ever seen. My apologies if this is old news, but I just happened upon this this morning, so...

 

I'm a pretty fast typist, so I (still stopping often) typed out some of the audio. This is all stuff that you family saying/yelling at the police at the roadblock...

I saw this yesterday posted on the AGR...I enjoyed it overall, but to be honest the "threats" that the brother holding the camera was making were troublesome to me to say the least. What the fuck place do statements like "we're gonna get you", "I'd like to see every one of you motherfuckers hung", and "You better get out of here while you still can" have in the context of a peace, love & healing gathering??? I'd like to hear that brother say those things to the LEO's while alone or at least outnumbered...foolish things to say to LEO's to be sure, and TOTALLY against the philosophy of the Rainbow Family. I'm not condemning this brother outright, everyone deserves forgiveness, and I know that people react strangely in situations of extreme frustration and stress. But brothers & sisters we NEED to reign that shit in and be more Gandhi and less Weather Underground or else we'll be caught right back in that vicious cycle of violence and threats beget more violence and threats. If any of those LEO's did happen to hear some of the shit that brother was driveling, I feel terribly sorry for the next hapless hippy that gets pulled over by 'em on a lonely road by himself.
All of that said, I'm glad that there was passive resistance to the unconstitutional roadblock and that it was not honored.

the verbal assult is NEEDED!!!!!! don't think any other way!!!!! This bullshit happened in Utah last year at an electronic music festival! I'm sooooooo fucking tired of our facist regime!!! If we don't show them that we believe that we are not being treated like human beings then they will continue this bullshit!!!! We need to step up and fight for our rights! we need to prove to people that this stuff happens all the fucking time!!! I was talking about the Utah event with the people i went to CO with and told them I hope to the Gods that the same thing does not happen...They argued with me that the Utah thing never happened, well it did and this is another event that proves that shit like this happens! We need to bring them to our level! We preach equal rights for ALL living creatures in this universe, but why do we let people degrade us? Stand up and protect our rights. Peace is obtained by voicing our opinions and fighting for our rights. This is very sad. The Utah video footage only lasted on the internet for a week or so until the feds deleted every trace of it, so pass this on to everyone. Make sure it's on every forum!!!!

 

Everybody keeps telling me how the events on this video are so totally awesome, but I don't get it. I arrived that morning about 6 am, I was stopped from entering by the feddie roadblock. It was a full-on roadblock at that point and not just a, in USFS terms, "checkpoint" like they had later. I hung around until about 9 am and then left to find breakfast, a phone, and a place to wait and think. Boy, I'm glad I wasn't there when that weirdness went down. I was glad then, after hearing the stories and I'm even more glad now, after watching that video.
When I watch this video, what impresses me the most is the way the LEO's held their cool. They demonstrated quite a bit of discipline on that video. It seems that they, with only moments to act, chose public safety (both their own safety and the safety of gatherers) first. The LEO's were placed in a situation were they could have hurt people and held their ground or retreat without violence. They chose to retreat.
Did anybody else notice the dude with the rock? Right around the four minutes in, there's some dude holding a rock in the throwing position in an attempt to threaten a female LEO who is holding a 12-gauge shotgun. I mean come on, what a fucking dumbass. A rock against a 12-gauge. He not only endangered himself, but also everybody else. Remember that dude, Amadu Dialo or something like that, that the cops shot 44 times because they couldn't tell a wallet from a gun.
If the Feddies want to come and declare our events as an "illegal gathering" while they, at the same time, engage in actions such as illegal roadblocks, then some kind of a general strategy needs to be developed to deal with over-zealous LEO's. The strategy employed by the folks in this video (yelling random insults and profanities, using both verbal and physical threats, and acting in an overall mob-like manner) are only going to hurt us in the long run. If collective action is going to be taken towards confronting the LEO's, then we ought to follow the example of great individuals, such as Dr King, who fought their battles with their dignity and honor intact.

Sister Bumble, I'd be glad to chat more about this in VT if you're still going! However, in case you are not, here's where I disagree with not your frustration, but with the general direction in which you seem to be headed in order to excorcise said frustrations....There are plenty of more violent and/or non-passive resistance movements to deal with the gov't agression you're feeling. They're NOT Rainbow. What some of the folks in that video are doing will get someone killed or hurt, and will ultimately just ratchet the harrassment up. Do you honestly think now that in light of what went on there that the feds/LEO's won't be more prepared next time, and probably be a lot more agressive? It's quite possible that a can of worms has now been opened that can't get closed again. Reason & logic must always prevail, NEVER a mob mentality and violence. Let us take our cues, as Rocky Green states in his post, to emulate Dr. King and Gandhi's movements. Where did active resistance get the black panthers, or the Kent state protesters, the Weathermen or any other such movement? With members being methodically slaughtered, that's where. Again, in closing, violence begets violence.

 

first, I never said we should be violent. What I meant in my post is that I believe we need to VOICE our opinions. I would never ever suggest harming anyone. It's against my religion. I didn't realize that there was a brother with a rock in his hand. I agree with all that has been said, besides the fact of being silent. MLK Jr was never silent and he helped obtain equality for the African Americans. We need to know our rights and make sure they know that we know our rights.

So I did some searching and found video footage of the Electronic music festival that happened this time last year. There clearly are national guard people beating people up in the video clip. Let us be thankful that this did not happen at the gathering.

Sister, assault of any kind is not really part of any rainbow traditions I remember hearing. All negative energy brings is bad vibes for all those involved.

PS-I love Alex Jones/Prison Planet! One of the most inspiring speeches ever is his cameo in that Richard Linklater animated movie...awesome! I agree with you that we need to act up and out, but not violently (and violence CAN be verbal after all!), that's all.

 

I have mixed feelings about it. Nice words would have accomplished nothing; more harsh words or actions might have caused a bloodbath. I'm not really sure that ANYTHING can wrest the country from the hands of the TRUE fascists who run it now. But this video clip shows that there are still people who have the courage to stand up for the principles this nation once stood for.

 

Owsley, in an interview, once compared the Dead scene to an animal with no immune system. I think the same idealogy applies to the current state of the Rainbow scene in spades. It's being Eaten from within by the fast A camp, Eaten from outside by leo's and droves of Mainstreamers who think all Rainbows are drugusers, and since all drugs are alike(sic), thieving crackheads. It's getting too Dangerous and without some sort of Defense the Natural order of the Universe Needs it to be Erased. Bumble has the right idea. To be vocal is to get Attention without Violence.

Advanced culture rises up where a segment of Humanity is protected and like the Rose that is nurtured the Most, blooms the Biggest. Let the rose grow as it was planted, with no Defense from weeds, pests...it may die. It may be beautiful but it Will Not Flourish! It is ok to be Proud enough to protect family, iMo.
Two energies at work are Passive and Creative-active and inactive...ebb and flow and the Flow always erases the Ebb with Substance. The Rainbow way is to be Passive. As the great beast of power and Fear becomes Stronger and creeps closer to Your bed, tucking in all the corners of humanity and muffling the voices of the Weird, till we're all tucked in so tight all we can do is squirm, a moment of strength to rip the grasp or wait till civilization runs it's course and pick up the pieces but then, Acamp will shove us to the Earth and rule us all.

Who knows the proper course of action or inaction? Continue to watch each other get arrested or get robbed/raped when they try to come Home? Give up and get a job? Fight alone against what you think is evil or wrong? Join together and do Something to Protect Ourselves?

 

I kind of know what you're getting at, but....I"m fully aware of the difference between "pacifist" and "weak" as your post seemingly attempts to delineate; I hold a 2nd degree black belt in one martial art and have studied many others to varying degrees. My own personal philosophy of defense revolves around the shaolin principle that the monks there practice and I can assure you that "I'd like to see all you motherfuckers hung" and "you better get out of here while you still can" do not fit the bill of "defense" at all...

 

It is one thing to defend yourself or Family, I live in one of the states that if i
am in fear of bodily harm, I can defend myself with deadly force... Now with that in mind is words like

These are words that can be met with violence and in some cases have been...there were a lot of cool heads and its probably a good thing for a few of these people that the leo's had some cool heads about them.

For the rest of the family I aplaud the fact that we can defuse a situation without violence I LOVE YOU ALL....

 

malakala, you are talking about personal defense, not defending a community. If I seem to be promoting violence, I am being misunderstood. I promote the absence of violence in all walks of life.

Rainbow...all colours, some are ugly, some can hurt or even kill ideas, love, others. Some colours may nourish and promote the song in each other. If we just make this big pot out in the woods and let the colours run in as they wish, some will overpower others and some will lose their hues completely. When the Strongest colours are the ugly ones, there is no healing happening, only pain, fear, and the promotion of the biggest lie we are under, the Ego.

As far as the things that were said in this video, I agree that some remarks did seem to instigate violence. Violence that could, (and still might) lead to the absence of any legal Rainbow Gathering in the future in the U. S. I was sincerely surprised that although there were federal agents there, there was little violence. They are jumpy and would use the violence as excuse to call the Rainbows a terrorist group. In theory, that could lead to leo's detaining any Rainbow just for being a tad wookish. And we all know they keep terrorists locked up indefinitely. I am saying something different may need to be done to preserve the Rainbow Path, but Certainly not Violence!

Pacifist way of life is not a weak one, but the more aggressive and vocal seem to always wind up on top of the heap. Pacifism allows one to accept unwanted change, that is a strength in its own right, I agree, but a pacifist community Forces the aggressive to assume control, natural order, see? Just stay strong, be loud and proud and intelligent in your battles for it is a constant struggle on Earth to see that justice and Free Will are protected. Nature isn't fair, that's where our work begins.

 

I can't actually believe that it actually worked. Had someone suggested it to me while at the gathering I would have said hell no, you are crazy. That being said, it worked. WOW. I loved watching it because we won the battle. Of course we should expect 200 or so national gaurd at next years main gathering. I dn't think they will be backing down next year. of course they were getting worse every year anyway, so this will just speed things up a bit. All in all...well done folks

I just saw another video of what those pigs were doing to people at that roadblock. I've changed my mind about things. The man saying those threatening things? He was right. Every last word of it was morally and factually correct.

While I know that peace is the rainbow way, I hereby give up my belly button. My father knew how to deal with Nazi storm troopers, and I guess Americans have to learn all over again.
