The media has been fairly quiet about this one. In 2007 you'll need a passport to go to Canada or Mexico by sea or air. In 2008 you'll need one if you go by land. The tourism industry has been protesting this new policy.

This will probably help the Bush administration when it comes to restricting travel to Cuba. People have been circumventing the restrictions the White House has placed on travel to Cuba by going freely through Canada and Mexico. It won't be as easy now. It will also cost you about $100 for the passport.

yeah i just went and got my passport yesterday...it costs 97 $.

But the thing is, you should go and get your passport anyway because pretty soon all the passports are going to include microchips which contain all your info.

This is scary because people will then be able to scan your passport and steal all your info...think about that.

But guys, you should have your passports anyway! What if you get a once in a lifetime opportunity to go somewhere and you DONT have it?! It costs 200 $ to get a passport expedited..and it still takes 2 weeks!

DO IT DO IT DO IT!!!

    Peace and Love

It should have been in effect for years especially since 09/112001. I always knew Bush was slow.

I think they should really address the issue of the ease of driver's licenses being issued to illegals, not to mention amnesty being given freely to illegal workers by Bush. There was a group of Senators that fought hard for reforms on these issues during the homeland security bill debate but they lost out to the business groups that want illegals for cheap labor.

The Bush administration is behind the game on everything, from 911 to Katrina. I've never seen an administration this far out of touch with reality. Even when they do finally come up with a remedy, it usually doesn't make much sense.

Don't believe the hype. The Bush administration is doing everything they can to erode the borders between the US and Canada and Mexico, and within ten years people will be free to enter either country (and those countries vice versa) without even having to pass through Customs. It's called the North American Union, and that's why we have this superhighway being built extending from Canada to Mexico, unbeknownst to the public.
