We had a thunderstorm outbreak yesterday and I brought a camera for the occasion. I'll post a couple here, the rest are in my gallery. Enjoy.
Are you tripod mount with the shutter stuck open or are you just real lucky or? Very awesome pictures, I have never caught any hits with still but have some killer video.
None of the above... my digital camera has a movie setting that takes 30 second clips at 640x480 resolution. I just point at where most of the action is taking place and start shooting. I am able to edit each movie down to one second segments to reduce download times. The stills are copied in quick time and then turned into JPGs in photoshop.
I did the same thing with the lightning bug pic. Maybe a little trickier because I had to be zoomed in a lot, focused, and on the right spot. .
Mine lets me do that too, I just never thought of that and my camcorder has USB to hook to the computer too, shit I feel stupid now.
Ya learn something every day! Actually my newest machine has a slot for my compact flash card and doesn't require the USB connection.
Been an active season... got a few shots today. I'm furnishing links as opposed to posting the photos because I saved the pics in 1024x768 resolution which does some user unfriendly things to those viewing at lower resolutions: one two three four
Yes my camcorder has usb and a digital tape and a media card, its a 3ccd color quality, very nice images in 1.3megapixel, my digital camera is just a 5megapixel SLR with a couple of lenses. I am gonna sell the digital camera soon and upgrade to a 8megapixel Canon SLR. It has a very quick shutter and I think it will do me better although all my pictures I normally post are dont while driving down a rough highway in a 18 wheeler at 70+ MPH so its good just I think I can do better.
The 4th picture to me is the most powerful, just the off shoots from what appears to be a main shot is awesome.
I usually capture the stills and delete the remainder but in the future I'll try to make a point of keeping the clips. They're fairly large files.
Well, when I saw this category for posting pics, I thought I would post my lightning pics, and the first thread I see is this one. Must be karma, lol. Anyway, here are just a couple of many I have taken. I use a Sony DCR-VX2100 video cam and then extract the pics from video.
