    Here are my favorites:

    1. When I was 3 years old my family and I drove past a house on our way to the wharf to go fishing. As we passed, I happened to look out the window and I saw the roof of the house burnt completely off. The fire had been out and it had smoke coming out of the top of it. This house has never caught on fire and has never had any damage done to it's roof. I'm waiting on this one...

    2. In my old apartment with my ex-husband, the taps in the bathroom would turn on and I heard moaning in the kitchen. The TV would turn up very loud too, on its own.

    3. In my current apartment building, I have been lying on my back in bed and had little hands push down on my shoulders just as I'm falling asleep.

    4. I once walked out into the hallway of my building and as I did, I was overcome with this very eerie feeling. It wasn't in my apartment or in the laundry room, just in the stairwells and hallways. I had to go pick up my mail and when I did, I saw a notice saying that one of the older residents of the apartment had passed away over the weekend. As soon as I learned that, I knew that the eerie feeling I had was this older lady and the fear immediately left me and became a sense of calming politeness.

Who else would like to share?

    Freaky.

A few years ago I lived in the old Winchester Jail - it had been converted into apartments. The room I had used to get colder than the other rooms and always seemed to have a sorrowful atmosphere. No matter who lived there they would invariably move out within months. It turned out that this room had been where a guy hanged himself a hundred years before.

When I was with my first wife, I used to keep seeing a knight in armour stood in the doorways, in each house we lived in.

I don't know if it counts as a ghost story but if I walk into a house or an apartment or anywhere I can just sense whether there is a good or bad spiritual atmosphere. Not so much seeing a ghost as feeling good or bad vibes - even when a house is unoccupied or has different people there or whatever.

A few months ago, I was awakened by loud voices. I couldn't figure out where they were coming from, until I walked over to my stereo (the one with the turntable). They were coming from it, even though the system was unplugged at the time (I was repairing it, and I still had it in the on position). I pushed it off the table, and the voices stopped. Weird thing is, the voices sounded like my uncle Charlie (who died in 1994), and my grandfather (who died in 1980. I had recordings of his voice, so I know what he sounded like).

Also, a strech of highway a few miles from my home is haunted. Back in the early 70s, this dude lost his mind one night, and tried to hack his wife to death. She managed to get out of the house, and made it across the highway(which was just two lanes at the time) to a neighbor's house. They weren't home, the husband caught up, and she was hacked to pieces right on the side of the road. A passerby found the remains a few hours later. The husband was put in a mental asylum until his death a few years ago. But late at night, sometimes you can hear her screams. I used to drive by late at night when I worked near the site, and I would hear it. The site where she was killed is now a Chevron station, the house she ran to is still standing a few yards from the site.

When I was little I used to complain that there was a little boy in my room and he used to scare me. My mother took this as an overactive imagination and didnt think too much of it until one day a man selling pamphlets came to our house, he said that his friend used to live there and asked of he could come have a look.
We let him in and gave him a tour of the house (looking back at it now i dont thnik it wouldve been a very good idea. expecially when you didnt know the guy). Anyway he went around all of the rooms until he got to my room where he stopped and had a good look around in, he said that he remembered it very well, his mates son fell off the slide across the road at the park a few years back and died a short while later, that was his old room...imagine how my mother felt about that.

Late one night I was smoking a sesh with some buddies in a car at the end of the driveway of and old mansion near the university here. We knew about other ghost stories about the house so we drove by it just before we parked and as we went past, I yelled "****!" out the car window towards the house (directed at the dead previous owner's ghost). I did not really believe in ghosts then so I did just to see if something would happen...

Well it did, about 15 minutes later, I could see a very dark shadowy figure moving down the driveway towards us as if it were dodging through the areas of the driveway that were lit up by the street lights. It was very vivid, like matter made of an absence of light taking an abstract human form. After I saw the figure a third time I exclaimed that something was approaching the car from the house. At that moment myself and a friend in the back seat were overcome by a stench so terrible I am sure my lungs will never be filled with something so awful again in my life. It was like a concoction of rotting meats and carried a sensation of intense burning in my lungs. The driver could not smell the stench, but the person in the back immediately described it as the smell of death. Immediately after that, the driver and I saw the shadow figure swoop down the driveway across the front of the car towards the driver door. We got the fuck out of there in a hurry.

I later apologised to the house and the spirit, I won't be disrespecting the dead again nor will I doubt their existence.

My aunt and uncle moved into an old house about 1/2 mile from us when I was a kid. Not long after moving into the house they told of seeing an old grey lady. We kidded the hell out of my cousins but they were all kind of "wacky" anyway and eventually the topic died away so to speak.

Years later after I had married and moved out of my parents house, my uncle had died and my aunt sold the place they live in and moved on as well. One night about 10:00 in the evening my phone rang and it was my dad on the other end of the line. He had been bowling that night and there was a woman with the couple that my folks bowled with that as a young girl had lived in the area where I grew up. They all began to talk and the woman related the fact that she had grown up in that area and that here family had owned several of the farms in that area. She began to ask about each place...who owned it or if it still stood etc. When she came to the house that my aunt and uncle had bought, my dad responded by saying that his brother in law and sister lived there until he died.
The next part is the best...the lady ask if they had ever saw the old woman...my dad said his jaw dropped and a chill ran up his spine.
This is not a "story" this is an honest event. I never really knew what to think about it because deep down i am a skeptic when it comes to these things.

Yeah it was. This is a pic that I took one night in a forest parking lot. I know for certain that there is no way that dot was created by reflection of the flash on matter.[IMG]

When I was ten, I was in my Great Uncle Eugene's house. He was getting ready to move. I went upstairs, helping him pack boxes, when I heard music coming from downstairs. So I went downstairs and there was this old radio playing 40s or 50s music. The radio wasn't plugged in, and it wasn't battery operated. I went up and asked Gene what was up with the radio. He said it hadn't worked in years, and didn't work unless it was plugged in. Scared the shit out of me.

A few years ago, I was asleep in my grandmothers house. Grams and I were the only one's home. As I tried to fall asleep, I could hear a little girl crying for her mommy coming up through the vents.

One night, I was in the cemetery with two friends. My dog was running around aimlessly, and I didn't mind because it was too late to get in any sort of trouble for having a dog there, and she was always very respectful of the places where she was allowed to run free. Out of nowhere, she came running back to me, whining as if she had seen something scary.
I looked up towards a street light, and there are a few trees in that direction as well. Just as I looked up, I noticed a VERY dark shadow moving under the shadows of the trees. As it got close to the street light, it also got lighter, and just as it *would* have walked under the light, it faded into a very fast-moving thin cloud of fog and disappeared.

In the house that my husband and I used to rent, I could tell that there was something VERY negative there. We were almost never in an incredibly happy mood (and I'm usually and incredibly happy person) and something just "didn't feel right". We have another dog now, and he was just a pup at the time. On one of the walls in the house, he used to freak out, just go crazy barking at the wall. When he was outside, he would dig right against the wall, and nowhere else. I would always hear tapping against the wall when I was home alone and when my husband left for work early in the morning and I laid in bed for a few extra minutes, I'd hear heavy footsteps coming down the hallway (our bedroom was at the end of the hall) and right before they'd reach the outside of the door, they'd just stop. Sometimes, I'd hear tapping on the walls right after the footsteps stopped.
One night, I was up late with a couple of friends, and the husband had gone to bed because he had to work early the next morning. I heard the door creak and thought nothing of it, thinking that it had just moved from air flow into/out of the room or something. Not long after, I heard a sort of moaning sound, followed by my husband screaming my name extremely loud. I ran into the bedroom and he was laying there, curled up, crying. He said that he was asleep, and he thought he woke up (he wasn't sure) and saw a VERY dark shadow in the corner across from the bed (it was pitch black in the room, to begin with). After he saw the shadow, he felt like he was being held down on the bed, and then he felt this incredibly strong burning through his whole body, as if something had tried to pass through him. He tried to move and couldn't. He tried to scream for me a couple times, and nothing came out until the last time, when I heard him. I told my friends I'd be back out in a little while, and laid with him until he fell asleep again. The next morning, he said that he kept having really weird dreams, but couldn't seem to wake up.
A couple weeks later, I had almost the same thing happen. I saw the same shadow in a different corner, and just as I opened my eyes (I was still asleep) and realized that it was still there, it moved VERY quickly towards me. I closed my eyes and fought it with everything I had, swearing that it would never be able to hurt us and it would be best if it just gave up and went away.
We never had problems after that. I never heard the footsteps again, my husband never mentioned anything about it, and the dog even stopped freaking out at the wall. We were tripping in the house with a friend around Christmas and the entire house was very light - the walls seemed to glow yellow, it was a very happy feeling, and there was no mention of anything creepy in the house.
Our best guess is that something VERY violent happened to somebody there - especially either against the wall (or one that used to be there and was re-built) or in that general area of the house, outside in the yard, or a house that may have been there a very long time ago.

i know this is a 'friend of a friend' story, but it still creeps me out.
my mom's best friend was dating this guy back in high school, and it wasnt long before they started going 'steady'. things were great between them, until she found out one day that she was pregnant. when she told her boyfriend, he left. when she told her parents, they told her that they would no longer support her. unable to take care of it herself, she did a terrible thing-she aborted it.
one night, a noise woke her up, a baby's cry. she searched her apartment, she went down the halls searching for the source of the sound, but she never found it. but for months after the abortion she would wake up in the middle of the night to the cry of the baby she killed.

i experienced something similar to this, only it wasnt from a radio. i was probably about 5 or 6 because it was when i stayed in this one room in my parents house. i remember waking up to this humming. it was a woman humming & it was really loud. then she started singing and the whole time i was scared shitless, trying to figure out where the singing was coming from, but it really sounded like it was coming from all around, like from the walls or something. the voice sounded scared or sad or i dont know what but it was fucken creepy. i was sure that my whole family must have heard it too (it was fucken loud) and i ran downstairs and told my mom what happened. she said i must have been dreaming & she didnt hear anything. if i dreamed that, then i am still dreaming now. i swear it was real.

also...one night i had a dream that i was visiting my grandma on her death bed in the hospital & somehow i knew she was dying. she was at the age when she died, and i was the age i am now (only in reality she died before i was born). anyways, i was trying to talk to her, i was asking her everything i'd always wanted to know (my mom never talks about her) but she didnt say a word, and it was really strange. then she answers me, but she writes it down on a peice of paper and hands it to me. i couldnt get over how strange that dream was (i even posted about it on the forums when i had my other username). when i got the chance i told my mom about it. she looked at me like i was crazy and told me that dream was quite a coincidence because my grandma died of throat cancer (which i totally didnt know) and right before she died she couldnt talk & had to communicate by writing things down. i dont know if that dream had something to do with her wanting me to know or of it was just a coincidence but i think not. i wont ever forget that.

when i was 12 my best friend died, and it really kind of terrorized me, but i wont get into all that. i was so completely destroyed from seeing her dead that i had nightmares every night. really morbid and disgusting dreams about what i saw. then one night i had a dream that i was at her house & her sister & mom were in the living room crying & there was her school picture framed on the mantle and they were looking through the guestbook from her funeral. i didnt know what to say to them and i was feeling really akward so i walked down the hallway to my bestfriends room. the room looked just like it did when she was alive and she was standing on her bunkbed. i cried and cried when i saw her and i think i was really crying in my sleep. i was saying i though you were dead, i thought you were dead and i was just so happy to see her she was right there in front of me. she said no, i was all wrong. she said she loved me and she wanted me to know that she was happy where she was and she didnt want me to be sad anymore. she said she was having fun and she was okay. ever since i had that dream ive felt sort of at peace. i dont have nightmares anymore and i feel okay about the whole thing. again, i dont know if it was my mind playing tricks on me or if she really wanted me to know that.

i doubt anyone read that whole goddamn thing but its all true.

Again related to my dad dying - my mom was out by the back of her fence with a friend. My mom doesn't smoke weed, but her friend was smoking a joint and mom didn't want it on the porch or anything in case someone else came over. The friend is also my dad's best friend's wife. My mom said, out of nowhere, they heard old music playing... nothing that she recognized, but said it sounded like something that dad would have listened to. It only lasted 3-4 seconds and stopped.

My friend had a dog, a 1½ year old lab/gernam shepherd, that one of his stepdad's friends 'dropped off' on them and never came back for (he was supposed to). I almost took the dog (Cayenne) from them, but she wasn't spayed and I didn't have the money right away, so I was able to find another dog that was already fixed. The same weekend that I got the new dog (two days after I realized there was no way I could take Cayenne) his stepdad killed Cayenne. He bashed her head in with an ice pick and stuffed her into a garbage bag to finish her off (he's an alcoholic asshole). Now, a lot of the time when we're at his house (when his stepdad isn't home, mostly) we can VERY clearly hear a dog whining outside on the porch where Cayenne was killed, it sounds as if there's actually a VERY loud dog sitting outside the door whining, but there's never anything there.

My friend's daughter, passed away at 11 months old last Summer. She was left to be watched by a guy that worked with her mom while her mom went and answered the phone. The guy wasn't paying attention, and the baby fell into the pool and drowned. Since her death, I keep having dreams about a baby - the child isn't mine, and I always seem to just "find it" when it's left unattended by it's parents. I don't know if it's a boy or girl, but it seems to be around 2-3 months old, a VERY happy child, and it almost seems as if I was sent to protect this mysterious child. My husband asked when it started (I've told him about the dreams before) and that's when I realized that it started around the same time, July last year, and I've been having them a lot more frequently the past couple months now.
