I'm lucky to have grown up in good ol' liberal Massachusetts where not only is homosexuality accepted, we can get married! I've only had one homophobic experience (other then my parents when I came out) and I was in a very bad neighborhood and people shouted at me and my girlfriend just because of the rainbow sticker on her car. Next year I'm moving to Burlington,Vermont, another very liberal gay friendly city! I wanted to know where everyone lives and if you consider it a gay friendly place.
I live in Essex, England and don't know any other gay people. my brother goes to college in Essex, and i'm starting in September and he says there's some gay people there. My personal neighbourhood, I'd guess at any girl walking had in hand with another girl, or guy with guy they'd get a brick through their window
Raleigh, North Carolina has its share of homophobes, but still a pretty good amount of nice accepting people. I'm still the only gay guy I know, though...
Youngstown, Ohio is not a particularly good place to be gay. People here look at you odd if you read.
massachusetts, its still been hard coming out going to a catholic school and having close minded parents and all but no where as hard as it would be in other areas in america so im thankful i was born and live there for now. I wanted to come out early on so i can enjoy my youth and being able to be 'on the market" for dating
I live in New Orleans and it is very accepted (and flaunted) around here. I mean, the French quarter is like a gay pride parade in itself, LOL. You will come across a few bitchy extreme Catholics that don't like it, but they won't say anything to your face. But whatever you do, DO NOT go on the north shore. That is on the north side of Lake Pontchatrain, New Orleans is on the south shore of the lake. Ppl in the north shore are stuck in the sixties. It’s nothing but a bunch of racist Catholic homophobes up there.
friend of mind lives on CHurch st. in Toronto...they are known for having the best gay pride parades around, and are a totally liberal city.
certain parts of vancouver, especially around davies street (gay village) victoria is also extremely gay friendly with quite a high queer population.
Seattle is very gay friendly, especially on Capitol Hill. We're the first city in the US to televise our Gay Pride parade and festival. WOOHOO!!!
the opposite of the forum topic ...is where I live College Station "lovingly" called Closet Station by gays here, well not really lovingly. it is a small town with a large college .. total population of the twin cities 140,000 to that add another 43,000 students attending Texas A&M. a nice university, but leans very heavily right, pro-bush, ultra conservative.
It's the Baptists on the northshore .... Lafayette is good old time Catholic and I like being able to hold hands with my b/f in the mall.
My b/f lives in Closet Station ...... it really sucks that Halo is an AWFUL fag bar ... so we're stuck going to Poet's or Yesterdays.... breeder HELL!
I live, work, and play in the French Quarter in New Orleans. The city of New Orleans is a gay friendly island surrounded by conservative suburban communities.
I don't go to Halo because it is exactly what you called it AWFUL. Fitzwilly's isn't too bad, most of the others are yawners.
