That's the trouble. All this praying and voting will get you nowhere - what you want is a revolt - a proper civil war. And this time the confederates shouldn't be allowed to lose only 'officially', but be beaten soundly in actuality! You could probably do with some civil rights for black people - such as the right to aid in times of natural disaster.

The way I see it it was a three-way idiot race, I voted for Nader because I can't stand Bush and can't trust Kerry. But here's the thing, the American public doesn't elect the President, the electoral college does. What the public does is elect the people in the electoral college who elect the president. I hope that makes some sense.

I just noticed this thread agian, and the question struck me differently.

If they really worshipped owls, it might be a lot better in some ways than worshipping a strange mixture of Jesus and the Mighty Dollar.
They might think 'how can we maximize good conditions for these sacred creatures? how can we ensure a world in which they will thrive? It might lead to a somewhat higher level of concern for the natural environment than the rulers of america display at present.
If they do worship owls now, I think they're probably stuffed owls. Long dead.
