There have been some management changes where I've been working, basicly upper mangagement has been treating everyone the like the shit on there shoes. well of 9 shop employes, there are 4 are left, and three more going. of 10 ofice people, all the sales peopl have quit, the QC guy and receptionist are walking soon too. The factory is screwed. they have no employees left to do any work, and they dont want to pay enough to lure new people. my last day is aug 25, I'm just enjoying the overtime cash till then
Good for you, wish everyone would understand its actually the little guy that controls the world if you can just get the little guy to accept the power. If the little guys all walk out the big guy is left with nothing.
we used to have it pretty good, weekly bbqs, quarterly bunuses in the $1000 range. they spent $20,000 taking every one in the shop out to a fishing lodge for a weekend. office people where all friendly. but all good things come to an end, ya see they fired the old manager. no more bbqs, no bonuses, cut our health and dental coverage. It used to be a pretty laid back place but now its nose to the grind stone, if ya so much as get caught taking a leak you get screemed at. Been shorting us on our checks too. this was all done to save money, our factory was making record profits when they had all their emplyees. I'd say its back fired them them pretty good. The new manager was running a shop in singapoor before he came to canada and started pulling the sweatshop BS on us. I've had to complain to the employemnts standards office just to get statutory holiday pay.
My mother worked for a company called Eldec, she started with them when they were just a hand full of people and a large garage building. The employees worked saturday for free, and an extra hour per day during the week to help the company during lean times. Over 20 years she was there and when years of being a large wire winder took out her shoulder she had to take time off for PT and such they laid her off. She trained every person above her and was happy to do it.
i understand you yank, the bqqs and what not are just perks. realy its the way where being treated thats making everone walk. a person can only take being yelled at so much. its like they dont want us to be there. place im going to dosnt have alot of the stuff I got before, pays a few dollars hour less, but Ive been talking with the managers and the other workers there, everyone seems friendly they treat there workers good. Its a high tech machine shop with a lot of equipment I havnt used before so I should be well ocupied learning new stuff for some time oh, it wasnt wait and maby we'll hire you, It was pretty much your the kind of guy we want, when can you show up. adn yeah my pay is lower now, but given time it will go up. thire top guys make around $35/h
yeah I love having a shitty manager and just walking. Its really teaches them. A few years ago I worked at a resthome and the manager was going to force me to work extra hours around Xmas by not giving me time off to see my family. I quit just before Xmas to make things extra hard for her and so did the other girl who did the same job as me. 2 of the nurses walked too. To see that fat bitch fucked over was the sweetest thing ever.
