one night, i saw this black dog in my yard. it just stood underneath the street lamp, not moving, then just ran off. a couple months later my dad died.
one foggy morning, after a huge storm, i was outside in the yard. i turned around and there it was-soaking wet. it didnt get excited, just gazed at me then kind of sauntered off. i was following it just 2 feet behind and as soon as it went into the street it dissapeared, without a trace.
soon after my dog was put down.
one morning, i was driving to work, and i saw it standing on the side of the road, always looking at me. it wasnt in any of my mirrors. i got pissed and started to yell at nothing, well, at it actually, to leave me alone.
then my aunt died of cancer.

    beware of the black dog

I would imagine that a neighborhood dog and nothing to do with anybody dying, unless the dog actually killed them.

i have seen the black dog in my dreams too, while my dad was in the hospital with cancer. it would chase me, and when i stopped running it calmly walked up to me and bit me on the hand. and how do you explain it dissapearing? and no, i am not lying. i seriously wish this damn dog would stop fucking visiting me. next time i see it im mowing it down with my car. (not my puppy, the dog. and it tuns out my pup has a little white spot on her chin thats getting bigger, so shes not pure black)

Totally aside from the movie itself, "the black dog" is also a trucker myth - when you see the black dog cross your path, it means death is close by. The story goes that when truckers would drive to the point that they were basically falling asleep at the wheel, or just having been alone for so long, especially in the middle-of-nowhere at night, they would see 'the black dog' and soon after, they would crash, either killing them and/or somebody in another vehicle, a pedestrian, etc.

So, perhaps it's true and not just a myth. Maybe people really do see this "ghost black-dog" that signifies death being close-by, whether it's yourself or somebody that you know. Who's to say for sure?

    it is an omen.
i'm sure that if you start looking at the world more closely you will see more. the trick is to recognise an omen when it presents and act upon it or at least with more caution than normal.
i have found that an omen presents itself as something completely out of character with the surrounding environment, an animal an event or a person etc...

my mother believes that if a bird pecks on your windowpane, it means you will die soon. her grandmother told her that. we had this really sweet old woman for a neighbor, and she came over one day and told us that this cardinal kept pecking at her window. she thought it was hungry, so she fed it, but it kept pecking. one day our other neighbor showed up at our house and told us that she had passed away.

you'd be screwed if you owned an aviary or you were a pidgeon fancier, your relatives would be dropping off like flies

Okay, so you dream about the dog because you associate it with the deaths of your relatives and you can't get it out of your mind. Your dreams of the dog in no way prove or ever sugest that it caused the deaths of your relatives or that it is casting evil magic spells at you in your sleep. Like most people fased with loss and/or hardship you are looking for a single easily understandable general cause for all of it. A malevolent magic dog would provide such a cause. However, since it is most likely a neighbor hood dog that everybody in your neighborhood sees from time to time it would just as much sense to attack some kind of evil magic power to any other object in your neighborhood. A tree perhaps, or a firehydrant, or squirrels, or a weird neighbor, you get the idea. You, however, have fixated on an unrelated dog. Why the dog, who knows?

because ive seen it in my dreams before i saw it in real life. maybe it is just a neighborhood dog, im sceptical too. but ive seen it in my dreams before anybody got sick or died. everytime i see it in my dreams, someone dies.
ya know, this would make a good movie...

You know, I had a dream recently that I was at the ancestral homestead, and it was a dark rainy stormy night, and I heard a wolf outside, and my Granpa went to check it out, and I saw it and pulled him back inside and we shut the door. My Mamaw started yellin' "git! Go on! Shoo! Yaaa!" at it, and we said Mamaw, that's not gonna work, it's a WOLF! And then we heard a knock at the back door...we were all freaked out! And when we went to go see what horrible creature it could be, it was my dear sweet Aunt Mary, soaked to the bone and shivering, and she said "I just come to check on you guys, I heard there was a wolf about." And we jerked her inside....then, two or three days later (after I had told my grandparents about my funny dream), I found out my Aunt has stage four ovarian cancer. *eerie music* Prophetic dream, perhaps? I don't often dream of wolves. I don't consciously associate them with death, but I guess some part of me must. After all, they are predators. Weird huh.

wow..you are so smart...you can seperate yourself from believing anything spiritually related and give it to us in your condesending, secular, and psychological way...you're sooooo right....forget that it might well be a death spirit....cause belief in such would be silly right?

I'd say the obvious, that the black dog is kind of like an omen of death, possibly like the Grim Reaper. It may be that the dog has a special meaning to you. If your seeing it everywhere, even in the streets, it's obvious that it's trying to tell you something. 'Listen' to it.

I used to drink a lot. It brought out all my hatred for humanity. In the course of drinking and playing around with the dark force it facilitates, I found myself waking up in a psycho ward. Two black dogs came to my house on a night that I declared aloud I would once and for all raise the devil. They sat outside my window. I played with them for an hour. They didn't leave, even after I was taken by the cops, I was told they stayed till sunset and left. Why did they come to my house? They SAT ON MY LAWN FACING the HOUSE till I came out. Of all the houses in my town. That was the last time I lost control to alcohol.
