So, I posted this in the birthcontrol forum and all I got was a response from a person that said "I read about it, seems interesting."

I was wondering if any of you ladies have used/are using Mirena and if you like it so far?
I'm thinking about getting and IUC after my baby and was wondering all the side effects you've had.

i'm getting it after my baby but I can't tell ya about it now. my doc says that the hormone doesn't enter your blood stream and that it shortens and sometimes eliminates your period

other than that...I know nothing but i'm not ready to tie my tubes so it seems like the best idea

Everyone I know in real life who had Mirena ended up having to have it removed after a couple months because of constant bleeding and other unwanted side effects from the hormones. I can't do synthetic hormones, so don't know first-hand what it would be like for me, probably a nightmare.

I'm sorry that was me that gave the short answer. I haven't needed birth control in years so I haven't kept up with the new things on the market. The Dr.s told me never have an IUD because of a situation I'd had when younger.

MissF....If you do have your baby before mine, let me know how you like Mirena, if you don't mind.

I don't have a problem as far as SH go. Well, I didn't have problems with the pill anyway.

    Denim, no problem.

i am quite hormone sensitive and i use a mirena. it's been wonderful for me, it did hurt going in, but i have virtually no period (which i think is a blessing), and don't have to think about birth control at all.
