    Hey Frog,

Ain't that how it goes? If you do all the right things and have a little luck, then you get to work your ass off harvesting. Lot of hard work, but wouldn't trade it for anything. Be careful and grateful.

    Peace,

Worked till 9:00 last night.Got 2 more beds done.Yes p.o.d. i thought about wat you said about being greatfull when i was diggin yesterday. It helped me get thru the hard work.
Im verry pleased with the german garlic (80% of my crop is german).they are the biggest bulbs i have grown yet.Last year i picked thru the pile of bulbs planting only the biggest ones selling and eating the smalkler ones.Man that really paid off.I mean these things are the size of a smnall to medium sized apples, they are huge.im so happy and cant wait to dig more today even tho its 97 deg. out side and verry humid.(dunks in the horse troft help tho).they taste wonderfull allso, had some on our pizza last night ,it was really good.im all smiles,,please keep the words of support up it helps allot.
    off to the gardens now

    Hi Frog,

I'm glad to hear about your good harvest. I live in a mostly agricultural county. In fact, there's little else. And by far the biggest crop is peachs. They're about 85 or 90 per cent of the county's income. Late spring into mid-summer is peach picking time, and this year there's been about no rain. In the past 10 weeks we've gotten 4 inches of rain, 2 inches of that came in an hour and a half on July 6th. So the peachs they should be picking now, well, they've been described as crisp and crunchy. That's good for apples, but not for peachs. Most of the crop has been declared, "not worth picking", and the farmers are screwed. Keep in mind, these aren't big, corporate farms with lots of crop insurance. These are small, family farms with no insurance. These are my neighbors.

So it really perks me up to know that there are good harvests still. But it's looking bad around here, long term, for the peachs. In the past 4 years 9 months, we're 10 feet 8 inchs behind in rain!! Yea, over 10 feet behind.

So Frog, and everyone else, be glad and celebrate the hard work of harvest. Lots of farmers around here, sitting on their pourchs, wish that's what they were doing.

    Peace,

I am interested in starting some garlic. What type of soil does it like? Where did you get your starter bulbs?
