first, i havent been on the MB's in a while bc time is cruising by~~i feel so busy lately...i hope everyone is well...i have to take time this week to catch up w/ everyone

now for my thread. the past 2 visits with my midwife, i have been measuring big. technically, i'm 30 weeks, but am measuring 33-34 inches. my midwife says it could be bc my uterine muscles are relaxed (this is second child, shes only 19 months)...i'm secretly hoping this means i could 'go' early.

has anyone experienced this? could i go early?~that would be great...
i dont know if it matters but my 1st baby was 3 1/2 weeks early and 8lbs 4oz....

I measured really big after my 26th week, usually about 3-4 weeks ahead and Leane was still a week and a half late...

i measured big with all of my babies, especially my third. They were all born a few days after their due dates.

there are lots of things that can influence the measurement, your position, the baby's position, the surface your lying on, the amount of amniotic fluid, who does the measuring, even the clothes you're wearing.

It doesn't mean you'll go earlier, or later, or right on time. It's just a measurement.

my OB told me that if anyone else ever measured me, it would be innacurate. He had students do it, but he would automatically do it afterwards, and that would be the only one that he would use. There was always a difference between the resident's numbers and his.

I measured way ahead with both of my girls. Jenny was estimated to be 8.5 lbs the day before she was born (c/s after failed induction), weighing only 5lb 6oz... so we ignored the in-utero measurements with Meriel. Even my belly was measuring ahead, people were always asking me if I were carrying twins.

This makes me feel better! Whenever I go to the doctor's office, they say "wow, you're gonna have a big baby". They've been telling me that since about 28 weeks when I had my last ultrasound. The ultrasound showed that he was growing at a normal pace. Everyone always tells me that I look like I'm "ready to go at anytime". I'm 37 weeks now so I suppose that's true, but I still don't think he's going to come early. He can come when he's ready! ;)
