I know harsh title right? Well if fallows what the poor animals have to go through. I was sent a tabling package by Peta and it had a video with a whole bunch of bands on it so i decided to watch it and see what was on it if I could show it at my local mall. It shows how animals die for the meat eaters of the world it CRUEL ITS DISGUSTING and I feel like a rotten piece of shit for eating meat my whole life up until 2 months ago, Im a vegan now and WILL NEVER eat a piece of meat again! I will never buy anything tested in animals.

Anyways as im crying my father comes down and tells me to turn it off saying that I am to young to see such things and saying not every place does this. I understands he cares about me but than my mom and my father started saying oh not every place does this and that peta is brain washing me. I don't have much respect for them at the present time.

I told them that this is reality! I also asked them if they knew much about their meat industry to say that not all places do this? Which they didn;t say anything about. I asked my father well how come they show dead people on tv from lebannon, and Iraq, and africa etc etc He replyed because its reality!!! SO IS THIS NOT REALITY? I can;t believe they made me feel like a horrible person doing what Im doing saying that I am brainwashed and that I can;t change the world. I respect my parents only to say that they concieved me and for the fact that they care about my well being but rather turn a blind eye to the truth.

Im so angry and upset right now that I probley sound like a terrible person. But I just can;t believe that they said that to me telling me i can;t change the world and the fact that Im brainwashed! Thanks for the support mom dad. I know I cannot change the world alone but all I can do is try and try and try! And honestly anyone coldblooded enough to work in a slaughter house and cut thorats of animals and watch them hurt i don't respect I do not care if it pays well and they don;t have an education. They should have went to school, they should look for something or at least try to change how its run. Talk about "loving" what you do.

Why has everyone stopped looking for the truth? Why does no one care? WHAT THE HELL HAPPEND TO COMPASSION?????????

*again Im sorry if I sound like a bitch. But the truth hurts!*

That's pretty much how I feel. I just can't have that mindset in life when I am talking to people. I want respect so I try to give it. I will debate it, naturally, but my mind has much harsher things to say about the whole thing. Fuck it! I don't really understand how compassionate people can continue to eat meat. It's kind of nice to have a place to cut loose and say that but I think a tactful attitude is an important thing to uphold.

Yah I know what you mean, you have to show respect to get respect. But its hard sometimes when people won't listen. But thank god fof a place just to let it all out.

right on brand new soul! its good that you understand that your parents just want to do whats right, but its ok to have different views on things than them. its not disrespectful at all. and its great to see someone young so passionate about something.

please remember the source of that tape, they have an agenda like any other group for anything including the beef industry. Anyone wanting to persuade others is certianly not going to show a positive side to anything. When ever your read or see anything understand the need to use your critical thinking skills. Ask why did they show it, what are thier beliefs, how would my thoughts of what I have seen assist or work against the suppliers agenda. The news shows what sells, what the public wishes to buy. They have commercial spots to fill as does any other programming. If you dont tune in to watch then commercial time cant be sold. If the news does not shock you and get you glued then they loose money. There is always a reason for anything, dont let a single source be your only source.

As for hating meat, great do it, stick to what makes you feel right, good for you!

I had a long time thinking about undercover tape after the Pottsville tape, as the actions recorded were a huge violation of kashrut as well.
    Here's where I wound up:
if some group catches the bad behaviour on tape, the chances that some of the actions will be remedied is higher.
I personally supported ABC News in the Food Lion case in the 80s, so why not this?
BUT if the tape is edited to make situations seem longer (tape loops covered with camera bounce and scratchy noises, for examples) it is not ethical, either because it is basically misleading.

hey brand new soul, if you feel so strongly about the situation you should join Vegans with Guns.

I'm way too non-violent for that sort of thing, but the concept makes me laugh.
and that seems to be what I'm looking for these days....

Hopefully you can turn all that anger into something positive. It's hard to do when there's so much wrong with the world, but we gotta start somewhere. Good for you for going vegan & trying to change the world. The world will change one mind at a time, and in just being vegetarian you are saving the lives of about 95 animals every year! So that's definitely a positive change in the world!

Do your research, read read read, learn all you can, and then spread the word. It's amazing how small steps in the right direction can lead to a huge change. I'm amazed at how many people I have "rubbed off on" just by being vegetarian and an animal rights activist. Two of my friends have gone veg because of what I've shared with them, and I'm working on my parents (they've cut down on meat a lot and my mom says she wants to go vegetarian, so does my aunt)... every person educated and every mind changed is a victory. Thanks everyone for being such a strong voice for the animals that have no voice of their own. :)

Oh, and I don't understand how compassionate people can eat meat, either. Seems like a no brainer to me...

Good for you. The industry really is one of the worst, and its mostly because of how unaware the consumers on the other end are. There is a thin veil which serves to conceal all the evils that occur in these factory farms, and that is allowed to remain intact in part because of the general lack of exploration. Conventions have been followed for too long, and industry products have been touted as helthful when they are only harmful, which people tend to embrace rather willingly. Milk is not healthy, it is a pollutant to the body, and meat suffocates the soul.
