I have a Texan accent. It's kind of a soft drawl. And yes, I do say "howdy"... ><

Ok....the "southern" accent...and the "hick" accent are two different things....and by the northern brits...do you mean the Scottish???

That applies to the New England accents more than any...the southern dialect and accent is a Scots one...

i love all the different british isles accents, especially coming from the ladies. as far as the northeastern US, most of them drive me nuts especially the boston area. i find them as aggravating as some of the more rural southern accents here. makes most of the southern chics sound like they whining all the time. got to love a cajun accent though, and i'm not talking about that fake ass accent justin wilson has, he's not even from louisiana, much less acadiana. he over does it to an extreme, and his cooking ain't that great, lol. despite popular belief, being from louisiana and/or new orleans doesn't make you cajun, new orleans is more of a southern belle, antebellum style with a creole twist. most here have a southernized california accent in the cities, and the rest have a blend that sounds like a combo between texas and mississippi accents.

Haha, that was a joke, please don't take offence. Actually, I meant the north of England, not Scotland, but again I wasn't in any way being serious :)

It's hard to generalise because there are so many dialects like in British-English.

Wow fountains....its good to hear one say that...everybody assumes america is a white washed nation where there is no difference in culture..and its only what you see on tv.....thanks for the open mind...its appreciated sister..

It is just like any other place...where i live has one dialect...the coast...30 miles away has a completly different one...is has been settled since the 1600's...where as my part of the state was settled in the 1900's...it was all forest full of indians in the 1600-1900's...so even though only 30 miles seperate us...the culture and dialect are vastly different....
