I'm getting all ready to move into a dorm room this fall for college and I can't find any bedding that I really like. I looked into some tie-dye stuff, but I'm looking for anything exotic, colorful, different, hand-made, patchwork.. ANYTHING that is eye catching and different. Any ideas on any web sites?? Namaste.
i got this really cool corduroy patchwork bedspread from linensource.com, i paid about $200 for it but last time i checked, they had it down to $99. i'll see if i can find the link for you. check out garnethill.com as well. here is for the corduroy quilt, check them out, they have some pretty cool bedding, i would know because i'm obsessed with bedding. http://www.linensource.com/default.aspx?page=product&sender=search&uid=CTT&CategoryID=CTT dannayelli
no sites, but if you feel creative, I've an idea: I made a bedsheet for my brother, years ago... I collected a bunch of tshirts of bands he likes, and cut a 12" square from each of them, 12" off the front to get the logo, and 12" from the back to get concert dates or whatever was back there, even if it were blank. I also bought a large peice of that nylony stuffing stuff... about 1 cm thick, the size of a double bed, and fitted that with the front and backs of tshirts on either side of it, handsewn the whole thing and made a big duvet. It took a while, and it'd be better if I knew how to use a sewing machine, but it was steller and became his favourite blanket.
The T-shirt quilts have become a big hit, and the best part is you can get your materials (old T-shirts) at most thrift stores or second hand stores for next to nothing! If you want to 'dress them up' abit, you can add lace or ribbon in between each row & around the edges. Also check out the fleece blankets, they are no-sew & can be made really quickly...just a few ties here & there. And fleece comes in soo many beautiful colors & designs now! A friend of mine made a cover for her day bed to protect it from dirt (they also used it for seating) just by taking a plain white sheet (could use any color) and using some fabric paints to draw her own designs & paint them in...it does take 48 hours to dry completely before it can be laundered though, and you have to launder the sheet before you paint on it also! Added some matching pillows & it looked awesome!
