In the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament) there are many instances of God giving support to chosen people, like David, Solomon, etc. Often, there are accounts of battles where "God's justice" allowed David to defeat his enemies, sometimes described in "success" stories like slaughtering 10,000 Ephramites, or 50,000 Assyrians, etc. I cringe at this notion of justice, where justice means that God's chosen are successful, even when it means the slaughter of innocent people. And still today, here we are in America, supporting Israel because they are a "righteous" nation compared to, what? The violent terrorists of Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Iraq? And the fact that Jews and Christians vie for Israel, does that mean that Muslims have to support the cause of the countries other than Israel? Why is it that, in the eyes of the media and the Bush Administration, Israel is just in their actions of slaughtering people? Christians believe that Jesus brought about a new covenant of peace, but does that make up for the strange injustice of God throughout the Hebrew Scriptures, and today in Israel?
In the holy text of Zyratofar, people from Sri Lanka are the chosen people. And it invalidates anything written in the bible.
Dear sister MollyBloom God is just, the Bible is corrupted, those ppl invented lies against the Lord and these lies makes you think that Lord is unjustThe bible is corrupted by the hand of men, by adding, deleting and changing the verses, Here is an example how the made God unjust They are not the nation of God any more, Click here Please sister, God is just, these are lies, They corrupted the word of God to achieve their goals*Peace and love* Yours Sincerely,Cat Stevens
Jesus said: 'I have come to send fire upon the earth'. There are many romanticized notions concerning the Bible and Bible characters, but just a quick question: How does your definition of innocence differ from God's definition of innocence?
Just when you have plucked my last nerve with fundmentalist rhetoric, you come forth with a truth so startling it makes me smile. We do not need to disagree on every point of opinion... but points of FACT such as this make us brothers. You cannot deny it.
Hi Zoomie you smiled Alhamdulilah, Thanks to Allah, I wish you always smile =) and please when you smile, share this smile with ppl around you especially children, it would be highly appreciated, Thank you in advance Of Course =) You ARE my brother =) not brothers just when we agree or have the same opinion, No, we are brothers in humanity =) To me you are the creature of Allah =) And that means a lot to me *Peace and love* Yours Sincerely,Cat Stevens
Cat let's not turn this into a Christian versus Islam thing. Seriously. We can do this all day. There's no need for it. You say the Bible is corrupted? Yet a big part of the Qu'ran is based on the Bible is it not?
Hi brother Portalguy ????? These are discussion forums? when I disagree with you, it doesn't mean that I am bashing you? Based on the Bible?, Do you say so because there are smiliar incidents, stories, prophets, verses etc, if so,then read this. stay on topic*Peace and love* Yours Sincerely,Cat Stevens
But don't you think that's a big part of this violence, hovering under the surface? The media is way too "pc" to say it, but I think that there seems to be an assumption that the Jews and Christians are righteous, and have a right to defend the piece of land now known as Israel, no matter what the cost. Yet, when Muslims do the same thing, they are called terrorists. Double standard? I think so !
No doubt there's an ongoing government and media-fed assumption to that effect. In the West, particularly America, the idea of the Jews as "God's Chosen People" is a very prevalent one...which is ironic in view of the anti-Semitism and racism that were intransigently rooted here in the US pre-WWII. The Nazi holocaust brought effective sympathy for Jewish occupation of this territory into play, and Israel has served as what amounts to a US military and diplomatic stronghold for most of its existence ...without US support, Israel simply would not exist as a nation. And yes, it is not PC in America to question Israel's status and actions.
Well, you brought up the corruption of the Bible. So, technically you are off topic. I just felt the need to respond. The Qu'ran is VERY similar to the Bible. The Bible was written first. How can you say the Qu'ran is not at all influenced by the words of the Bible? Have you read both? Seriously. BTW I don't like the fact that Muslims are called terrorists anymore than anyone else. Terror knows no color, creed, sect,or religion. Most Muslims are a peaceful, hard working and intelligent people. Christians have done some EVIL things in the past. So has every religion. You can't and should never make that whole religion accountable.
are we conveniently ignorin the "christian" evil that continues to this day, with the divine revelations on which bush inc. and the coalition of the willin are actin upon!
Oh, no presently as well. I'm sorry if I didn't make that clear. People who call themselves Christians don't always act that way. It makes me sick.
OK two things America supports Israel WHY "MONEY" not they are are "THE RIGHTEOUS" the Jews control the money in the USA and lobby for what they want also THEY OWN the MEDIA or aleast most of it and 2nd the "JEWS" are NOT the CHOSEN PEOPLE only in the OLD TESTAMENT, try reading the "NEW TESTAMENT"
Portalguy How is that, read my reply to sister MollyBloom Did you open the link (in my reply to your post??) I read the entire Qur'aan many times, and read the Bible but not the entire Bible Why are ya talking about this! is it on topic Thank you Did I do so? *Peace and love* Yours Sincerely,Cat Stevens
Some of the stuff was me answering to other posts. Sorry if I confused you. Here's a point I want to make...If you use the Bible to make points of reference how do you know you're not pointing at the corrupt part? Please also remember. If you say the Bible is corrupt in the Christian forum why shouldn't I respond?
Im not really a believer of either religion so I ask this out of academic curiosity. As I understand it the main belief for the differences between the Koran and the Bible is corruption in the transcription of the Bible, be it accidental/translatory/deliberate corruption. However looking at numbers of copies of ancient books doesnt seem to support this. As far as im aware the book with 2nd greatest number of surviving copies is Homer's Illead with in the order of 100 copies known surviving from ancient times. The bible wins with over 10'000 copies (cant remember the exact number ), if someone has evidence suggesting that this is wrong please tell me as obviously it wrecks the argument. Also as I understand it the difference between these copies is remarkably small with most errors being typographical or people taking slightly different interpretations when translating words with no direct translation. Either this information is incorrect or the corruption argument doesnt hold water, if anyone knows can they fill me in.
