haha wow today has been random at 1am last night i got friend A had a day off, and since it has been raining heavily we thought we'd go try and pick some shrooms from these cascades a friend has told us he always picks from. so i get dropped off at school, go to get friend B, but find out hes sick, so i remember friend C is tripping this weekend, so i go down and say "we arent going to school today mate come with me" and we're off. damn it felt good to just leave school spontaneously, especially with such a good reason first off we went to this house with shrooms growing out the front everywhere, but we had heard the old dude inside gets super psycho if he sees you "picken dem dangerous fungi" so off to the cascades it is, we didnt end up finding very many, perhaps 12 - 15 little cubies. (ill post a picture because i dont believe they are all edible, im a bit suss about a few..) we hunted around in katoomba for a cow feild but didnt find one, went to a coupla other places couldnt find any at all, and donald needed to go for a driving lesson so we had to be home soon. we popped back to that shroom house, and found 2 cars ou the front, and realised that there wasnt any cars the first time we went, meaning we couldve gotten plenty, but at least we know what time the guy works, so we will be going on thursday to get heaps. by the way this guy doesnt eat them himself hes just a psycho with a damn gnarly dog. as donald was getting picked up from school, i had no where to go so i hoped my mum wasnt home, as we drove past my house she stared right into my eyes hahah from out the front, btw its about 1pm and im meant to be in school at the time.. so we drop me off and say i dont feel like school, and she didnt even care! i was pretty vague with the details but it was so damn obvious i was wagging, but my perants hate my school so i dont thin they cared. all in all t was a super fun random spontaneous day, and we're going back soon properly.
can some knowledgable heads tell me whats what? they started out very creamy brown with the darker brown nipple on top, looking just like cubensis, but theyve changed since i picked them just to let ya know. i havnt seen any blue bruising though.. and the friend that picks there said when he does, the edges of the cap turn blue, ours didnt. so feel free to completly PWN the absolute fuck out of me.
i mean i wouldve expected the blueing as the psilocin is oxidising from me picking them and moving them around in my fingers, but nothing. does that mean they dont contain psiloc(yb)in? because, they looked exactly like cubes when we got them.
out of those there i'd bother with the bottom left, middle left, bottom right and top right. and if some were death caps, i'd only have myself to thank.
jeez, i can't really say man i'm not an advanced mycologist, but i know some basics. im not gonna advise you wot and wot not to eat out of them, coz i can't properly tell by that picture and haven't got the mushrooms here in front of me. but the ones i typed seem to be the best out of the bunch. if any of them are gonna work it'll be them cubes. by the way - respect to the hunt! i love mushroom hunting, not the time of year here yet though. gotta wait till september, but i'll be out in my pride and joy in all the cow shit and sunshade i can find. meebs.
yeah it was so fun, like even though i knew it wasnt "succesful" it was just so fun, leura is so foggy and mushroom-like, i just wish i had saucerful of secrets to listen to while i was picking i think we're going to get the ones from the guys front yard, we know all of them are cubes so itll be no worry.
i wasn't say it wasn't successful. you picked some growth didn't you? that's sweet! unlike yourself, i don't pick cubensis mushrooms. the only ones that grow in my area are psilocybin semilanceata with the thin stems and spored tops. Also, there are no dangerous wild mushrooms in the UK that look similar so the myth about psilocybin death (getting poisoned by picking the wrong type) is hugely hyped and believed, which puts some off hunting. The only poisonous type (without careful preperation) is fly agaric (amanita muscaria), which can be mistaken for some very poisonous types of mushroom. hence, i looooove picking muchrooms in the uk.
oh yeah wasn't saying YOU said it was unsuccesful, im saying it myself, because we didnt get many actual cubes, and they are so small, like 3 - 4 cms tall, so i doubt anyone could get a trip out of it. succesfully fun day though, and learning.
does anyone else have any opinions on what i picked? its odd.. today we all thoguht they looked like cubes.. now many dont.
from anyone's perspective, can you tell if any should NOT be eaten? beyond the fact i wouldnt eat any im not sure about anyway?
your brits and auzies are lucky, i live in the sanoran desert....no shrooms here, just cacti, and peyote is very hard to find, but san pedro's are all over, mainly in peoples front yards....."mum"....that made me laugh...lol
Man, You need to know more than that. You need to know what they smell like, what color they bleed, Do some more research before you die! (not trying to be rude, just safe)
You really should get a copy of a mushroom field guide or borrow one from the library. It will tell you all the ways to indentify them so that you know for sure what the are.
yeah i wasnt gonna eat em i just kinda put em up to ask what ones could be wrong and right.. we ended up just rolling and smoking but fuck it was the best night ive ever had in my life!
