You're a little late. There are about six or seven Syd Barrett threads now.

 

Ahh well, sorry guys.

 

Sure, talk about him now when he's dead. 10 days ago noone even remembered who he is.

 

I posted up about Syd Barrett on another thread but I would still say that It's sad news to hear he's died aged 60.
Might listen to some of his songs tonight:

Astronomy Domain - Arnold Layne - Matilda Mother - Apples & Oranges - Golden Hair.

Superb songs.

 

Well, ten years ago I was pretty young. I've known who he was for a pretty long while though, being a pretty big pink floyd fan.

 

Plus, when people die, others usually discuss it, so...get over it.

 

I've seen a few good articles about him. But most stories just parrot the old "LSD made him crazy" bullshit story. It makes for a good story, but ignores the opinions of those that knew him best- he apparently had a very obvious mental illness before his days with drugs and the Pink Floyd.

What intrigued me most about Barrett was his ability to work wonders with a guitar without ever really becoming proficient at the mechanics of actually playing it.
