why the hate?

Why do so many people hate hippies? I see it everywhere, the hatred -- I've been called a "goddamned hippie" and grew up associating hippies with being dirty and doing drugs. But even the things that I love about hippies -- a refusal to stop caring about the world, a belief in love and peace -- are regularly ridiculed. I don't understand why people hate us so much, and what is so threatening to them about the idea that love is powerful.

People are turning into right-wing dickheads. I think that's why... but maybe I'm wrong (but i doubt it).

 

Well the regular people (so there called) hate us because we think off the page. They think about the resent future and we think about the distant future. Also they think about whats good for themselves and we think about whats good for mankind. For them its about geting the most you can in the least amount of time no mater who it may hurt. But we like to think about the greater good thats why they hate us.

I believe that it's because people would rather hate than understand, just because many times, unfortunately, hating is easier than understanding or trying to accept the ways of others.

hate comes from chavs mostly i think...but they're stupid and most of them will be behind bars by ther age pf 20 so no need to worry too much i dont understand why they hate so much though..its like their steriotype they must hate.. ive never met a chav that has shown any compassion for anything. i dont think they are capable of opening their minds enough, so they dont understand us, find us wierd or whatever and there comes the hate.

You can't hate gays, blacks, jews or any other minority except hippies, without being hated yourself. That's right, for over 30 years now the only direction that it is acceptable to spew your hate is at us hippies. Sad but true.

 

i haven´t looked on it in such a way but there is a lot of truth in your answer salmon4me. there are still people around who hate gays, blacks etc. buit it is easier to hate the people who try to fight for the rights of those minorities, which a lot os hippie-folks have tried to

 

i dont mind being ridiculed for being a hippie....i find it funny....and i take it as a compliment.....who cares?
