Yeah, it is ebonics or, "rap slang" Holla: (it depends upon the context in which you are using the word) 1. a term used to try and talk or try an "hook-up" with a female. 2. meaning to talk to someone or telling somebody to hit u up later Wodey: a very good friend; a homeboy; number one dog Sorry, I pay too much attention to things, and have a few ghetto exs
I don't get the use of ebonics at all. I actually read a great article by a black woman stating how she's ashamed that all of her 'brothers and sisters' choose to talk as if they are under-educated. Really, what makes it cool besides the fact that it's a 'fad' or the 'hip thing to do'?
It's a dialect. Every language has dialects, and since English is spoken is so many places, there are many dialects: Jamaican English, English in the American South, Irish English, Australian etc.... There shouldn't be any problems with slang or other ways of speaking English as long as they're used in the right context.
1t $ur3 i$n't @$ @nn0y1ng @$ p30l3 wh0 tYpE L13k ThI$! but when you are talking to someone on line, and they still type out stuff like holla atcha boy, and leave off the s's at the end of words, and use more than one r, than it's just silly

Well, thats thee way i might feel when i hear rednecks and hicks talk, its the same thing. I could be ashamed, but I don't really consider tham my brothers or sisters,y'know, especially not because they happen to be white.
Oh yeah, because we should all be the same, complete cardboard cut-outs of each other How dare some try to be diffferent Get the fucattahere
No, it's about making themselves look stupid. Half the time people don't even know what they're talking about . . . and the ones that don't know what they are talking about are "stupid". Why should I (and other people that know how to actually SPEAK ENGLISH) try to keep up with slang? It's pointless, and it's just a fad. It's going to be different next week. Get the fuck out of here.
Haha, you're fun to argue with. And the answer is: because it's not different . . . it's a passing trend. You will be remembered as sounding uneducated.
Uneducated as in making a song talking about being "high on cocaine"? Or how about decades of abusing hard drugs and dying early because of it? You are the one broadcasting all this (with your avatar & sig) but no one is jumping on you for that, now are they. hhf
Because I am the queen of the universe. And also, Jerry and the others are wonderful, smart, PERFECT people. Dead or alive. Back off my band.
Firstly, not everyone in the south talks with southern slang, some people choose to speak properly, as could people who live in slang prone areas. As personface stated, it just makes them look uneducated, that's it. Also, not everyone who digs the dead does drugs and such, it's about the music not the scene.
