Its no wonder christianity is such a profoundly dismal religion Its iconography is distasteful -It is a religion that uses suffering and angst as the basic theory that humans do evil because they are evil - in other words christians assume that we are born evil - so their imagery portrays suffering. Whereas a religion that offered hope would base its icons on the joy of living and would state that the sanctity of life stems from the fact that humans are intrinsically good beings. Such a gloomy religion as christianity has done well to last until now but I am glad to see its mission to depress and subjugate us all has at last faltered and almost failed entirely. I hope it is consigned to history (the dead end of history) sooner rather than later
well, i dont beleive people are born evil, because evil is just an opinion and a point of view. but i do think that deep down at the core of every person, by todays western standerds, people are bad. deep down every person, no matter their up bringing is a savage and an animal. i completely agree with the points made and the deeper meaning in Lord of the Flies.
well isnt that what christians are afraid of? that we have this (dare I say it?) pagan animalistic side to us? That is why monks whip themselves isnt it? so that they atone for any pleasure they may have enjoyed above the pleasure of knowing god! Thats why its such a dismal religion - they cant admit that we have a world in which we intrinsically are good except that the idals of christianity are so lofty no-one can attain them. The fact that there is war etc in the world is mainly down to these religions whose idea is that only their lofty ideals are worth inflicting on people. May as well give up and become a hedonist its more fun, the imagery celebrates life not death and it begins with the idea that mankind is good not bad. The Catholic church is especially good at making people feel bad about themselves
yea. your probably right. they find any primitive human actions and emotions disturbing. because they think we are better than animals and actually have a soul, they dont want to have any similarities with animals. but thats exactly what we are, animals. we have primal emotions and desires. this is more obvious when someone is in extreme conditions. thats how people become savage after getting lost in the moutains wih no food. the body loses so much energy that it shuts down organs that you dont need. like the stomach, intestines, kidney, liver, etc. and focuses its energy on the lungs heart and brain. after a while it will shut down the part of your brain that deals with higher thinking abilities like love, compassion, hate, guilt, that stuff and focuses on survival. you literally become an animal bent on living. thats when people will kill their friends to eat them. because they are no longer able to have higher emotions. that savegery is there in all of us. but because we have made our lives so comfortable and easy, we have distanced ourselves from it and like to pretend that that beast in all of us doesnt exist. we are fooling ourselves. like i said before, we are exactly as portrayed in Lord of the Flies. without rules, law, punishment, and people telling you that stuff is bad and you cant do it, even the most refined man can become a beast. religions are afraid of this and so they try to distance themselves from it. thats also why many many schools around the country have banned or are talking of banning the Lord of the Flies. it portrays humanity in a bad light and parents dont want their kids knowing how close we are to animals and just a slight change in situation can shatter all boundries and taboos in our lives
I agree with you, only I don't think christianity is faltering. it's alive and strong in all the americas, and africa. Not just catholicism, but protestantism as well. europe might be getting real secular, that's true, but that doesn't mean everyone is.
First off not all Christians use iconography. That's a blanket statement that doesn't hold weight. Second off you're more likely to be subjugated in at least this country by another person than a religion. If you really want to be subjugated move to China. There's not a lot of Christians there. Actually, I'd say most of the countries where the major religion is Christianity you're afforded more rights. The Netherlands anyone?
The whole of the christian bible is full of written imagery of iconic proportions that demonstrate the miserable perspective of human life they inflicted on just about every society that the christian imperialists tore apart throughout history. Why should I move to China, the USA and UK are absolutely superb places to live for those who want moral subjugation. They violate at least as many human rights and between them have about a 1/4 of the population of china
Romans 8: 38-39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. How horrible? God sheltering us from hardship and God always loving us
I think we are not born evil, I mean when we are a baby we don't even know whats going on really, and do we actually remember being a baby, no! I don't even remember alot of stuff until kindergarten started. Religion in my honest opinion is a get them why their young and impressionable. If you are a 5 year old kid, your dad or mom is a big hero and you love being around them, so if they tell you that you were born evil, and the ten commandments are what determine good and bad, that if you don't except jesus washing away your sins, you will go to hell. Actually the statistics of that is if a person dosen't accept christianity by 14 they probably never will. Same goes with any other religion, not just christianity. And what we consider good or bad is really by association, if you grow up in an abusive home, you will probably end up abusive, because that way of life, is what is most imbeded in your mind. Not true always, but alot of times it is. Maybe we are born with certain determinations of right and wrong, like don't kill or hurt others, but parents teach us most "morals".
that is exactly why i created my own stlye of christian art, i was so bored of the painting to be so miserable, when they should be epxressing the joy and vibrancy of gods character. i must say iv had so much fun creating it, its so exciting. there is an art gallery i looked at that have quite a few good examples of christian art! ( for once ) www.limestreetgallery.com
Sure, minorities in this country are treated VERY unfairly. So are women. To think though that you'll get a fairer shake in a country that isn't predominately Christian is not the truth. The only place I can maybe think of is Japan or Thailand. Do some research and get back to me.
