What do you think about this whole "Emo" thing. Do you ever talk to Emo kids? Do you like them? Do you think some are just whiney brats? Are they faking it? I was bashing emos in front of this emo kid a while ago and she had almost no arguement for being constantly sad and "non-conformist" (just like everyone else) and listening My Chemical Romance.

Emo kids are just going through a stage of self expression. I think that they are much better than the redneck kids or such.

A person is better off writing bad depressive poetry and exploring his artistic side than drinking lots of beer and playing lots of football.

Live on, Emo kids! They all grow out of it eventually.

You're right, about that definetly. It's probably a good thing that they're into not beer, but like one out of three(ough guess) are into cutting themselves, that's not...productive, that's rather foolish. And they're sad I'm like "it's lovely out and this music is terrific!" and they're all "I'm sad."

I know I shouldn't criticize other people until I'm perfect (yeah, like that'll happen) but I'm just not understanding I guess.

Cutting themselves if a form of self-expression. I do not necessarily agree with it, but as long as they cut themselves and not others... I have no problems with them.

I agree...plus, when I was a teenager, it was angsty grunge music...so whatever....teenagers are sad creatures for the most part.

I have an emo firend. Or at least I think she is emo...I would guess she is. Anyway they are nice people.

Just one question, why do people keep saying "There are so many emo kids" I allmost never see them in my school besides that one girl.

I have a few "emo" friends, and I can safely say I've been like that SOMETIMES...But in no way have I, or them, ever wanted to cut ourselves or anything stupid like that. Nor do we even dress like that or have the hair or whatever. So I think sometimes a lot of the emo stereotypes are just that, stereotypes. Yes, I listen to some of the music, but as you can maybe tell from me, I'm not some sad depressed person, I just sometimes need to listen to music like that, or even write things down myself. Thats all. So I'll defend emo....but to an extent. I in no way defend the act of harming yourself.

No one's said there's anything wrong with listening to "emo" music, but I'm just saying how can you be sad all of the time and what does everyone think of this fad? I've met enough "emo" kids to know that some are nice and some are like freako nazi types who thinks everything is better off dead. Poetry is a good way of self expression, I'm no good at it, but if someone else is that's great. I just don't why one would get caught up in the foolishness of this particular fad.

1 out of 8 teenagers are depressed.. i read that somewhere. so if you have a school of 800 teens.. 100 of them are bound to be depressed.. seems about right. i'm sure that how some of them chose to express their depression.

they could also just like the type of attention it gets them. 10 years from now.. you'll probably just look back at all this and giggle. i know i laugh at how foolish i was and my friends were when i was in school. oh boy did we ever think we were the coolest bunch of weirdos EVER. i go by the schools now.. and all the kids look like how we used to look, thinking they are original :D . makes me giggle.
