I'm trying to do something nice for my dad... And right now more than anything he wants some clean vinyls. I know finding em in second hand shops would be next to impossible - so I'm trying the web. I'd be willing to pay more, since this will probably wind up turning into his Christmas present. The ones he REALLY wants are:

Yes - Fragile (Or really any Yes album, but that's his favorite by far)
Jethro Tull - Thick As A Brick
Queen - Queen 2 (The orginal)

He has all these... But after years of playing and 5 years in a moldy old basement - They're not doing too good.

I myself am looking for Led Zeppelin 3 on vinyl, but that can wiat awhile.

I'm just trying to get this stuff now becuase I have a little extra money, and before I go blow on shit I don't need I thought it'd be good to get a head start on Christmas stuff.

If anyone konws a sight that has good CLEAN copies of these, or re-issues of them on vinyl, please please let me know. I've been searching high and low for the past 6 months and haven't found a damn thing.

    Thanks guys :)

    Hey!

Seeing as you have gotten no replies, I humbly step down from my turntable and do something I don't do for many people: Reveal my vinyl sources. Heehee. Anyway, I managed to find all of your dad's records on one of my favourite sites, (Actually I just drag my ass down to the store, it's cheaper to take the subway than to pay for shipping) And while I'm not sure of the condition, you can e-mail them with your requests and they can tell you the condition in further detail.

    Queen 2: http://www.discoveryrecords.com/RKPQRAZ.TXT
    Thick as a Brick: http://www.discoveryrecords.com/RKJKLAZ.TXT
    Fragile: http://www.discoveryrecords.com/RKVWXYZ.TXT

Of course, that's just my favourite site because it's good prices and variety, but some of their copies are shite. (Yep, that's the catch, but they have good quality ones, too) This next site is based in Albany, New York. They don't list prices on most of their records, and some of them aren't in stock. You e-mail them with the ones your interested in, and your name and where your from. They'll get back to you within a week on quality, price, and condition. Most of their copies are in pretty good condition. If not, they'll tell you.

    Fragile: http://www.lastvestige.com/vinyl/y.htm
    Thick as a Brick:http://www.lastvestige.com/vinyl/j.htm
    Queen 2: http://www.lastvestige.com/vinyl/q.htm

    Led Zeppelin 3: http://www.lastvestige.com/vinyl/l.htm
(whenever I'm buying vinyl for a gift, I always buy myself a coupla records too heehee)
If you've been looking for them for six months, man you've been looking in the wrong places! heehee, usually you can find what you're looking for by playing around with keywords for a while. You might also want to buy your father some record cleaner so he can keep these records in better condition. And remember to stack em vertically! :)
And if you need any more help, just ask!
Rock On, and I really hope this helps!

Ebay is the place to go for old vinyl. I know because I have a lot of it, many of which were obtained through Ebay.

I prefer to visit the little vinyl shacks that are packed full of LPs... I just like browsing through them for hours.. :H

You can find real gems there too!

Me too! If only I could find somebody who doesn't complain about the smell and atmosphere the whole time, then drag me into some shitty clothes store and take twice as long. :S ;)
The links are the online catalogues of 2 stores, one in Toronto (easy!) and one in Albany (not so easy!) so if I'm trying to find one album real quick, I'll just flip through online catalogues (and I love getting mail haha) but if I'm not looking for anything in particular, I'll flip through thrift stores, record shops, and find a lotta good shit there too, (or, at least, something really funny. I collect exercise records, and then do the exercises! haha!)

Thanks for the sites! I've not been one to look online for vinyls, I much prefer little shops too :) That's where I"ve been looking for hte past 6 months, and haven't had any luck! I've not looked online becuase I've not had a dime to spend or a credit card, but now I at least have money, so that's a start :)

My dad has TONS of old vinyls he really took care of, they're just getting worn out and being in a moldy basement probably didn't help... But that's the only place we had to store them. (Our house is being overrun by stacks and stacks of vinyls we've dug up... Which really is great :D) And we have loads and loads of record cleaner... He buys the stuff by the gallons! He's taught me from since I could walk how to take care of vinyls. Sadly, though, these ones are just worn and beat to death. He really loves his vinyls, I swear he'd rather sell me to a slave trade then have to sell any of em, but I felt bad when he ofund his three favorite ones and they were so worn they'd barely play.

Thanks again for the sites, I'll certianly check em out!

    "International Customers
We offer just the one method of shipping your purchase, International Air. Air offers delivery to key destinations - USA, Australia, UK and Japan - in approximately one week. Our own experience suggests delivery times to destinations outside those stated above are approximately 7 - 10 business days. The service is provided by New Zealand Post. For the past year we have been shipping LPs and CDs all around the world using this service and have found it to be excellent." - ECHO

Theres always a chance it could be in one of two little big shops here in New Zealand, I've seen the records in the Christchurch shop and its quite a selection :)

You can also try picking up a copy of Goldmine or Discoveries. They usually have lots of vinyl for relatively cheap.

I don't have a credit card either, and I hate money orders, so I always just wait til I have money, convert my money to US, and send it through the mail (hiding it well) and hope for the best. Nothin bad has happened so far! :) I didn't mean to sound preachy, I just know a ton of people who have awesome records that they've allowed to warp by stacking them horizontally, bla bla bla.

Ah hun, dont worry about it, I sound like that when talking about vinyls myself! :D That site you gave me is a GODSEND! I emailed them yesterday and they already got back to me, saying they'll check on the albums and email me back tomorrow. THANK YOU SO MUCH :D Hopefully they'll find some ones in good good shape!
