Hey guys, I've been checking out the growing forum here for a few months, and I think I might be ready to start a little project of my own. Right now I live at home with my parents for the summer, but come late august im moving into an appartment with some of my buddies for school. I want to start off pretty small, growing one or maybe two plants directly from seed. My buddies will know and won't care that I'm growing, but I'd still prefer to keep it small. I've been looking into various methods of growing and ScrOG seems to be the one closest to my reach becuase I have an old subwoofer box that's about 1.8 ft^3. My plan is to grow 3-4 plants from seed, (and hopefully get one female) then proceed to grow ScrOG style. MY question is does anyone think that another method would we easier/cheaper than ScrOG for me to use. Keep in mind I plan on growing only one plant at a time and I like the idea of needing a relative low amount of light. Also, what's the cheapest bulb I can use with this method that will work? Flourescent? Thanks for any help anyone can give me... I'm open to all advice at this stage in the game
Im a newbie as well but from the sounds of your space, ScrOG from what i've read, would be the way to go. The only thing i know about flourescent lighting is you need a few compact flourescent (CFL) and also from what i've read they make a blue spectrum CFL and a red spectrum CFL. I would get all blue spectrum for veg and all red spectrum for flowering. Or just use a mix with both blue and red spectrum for the whole grow. But like I said im just a newbie too.....
another question I had is how much light will I need? I'm trying to keep this whole operation pretty small and inexpensive, so the screen itself will only be about 1 square foot. I'm planning on using CFL's, so how many watts of red and how many of blue?
What about a 200W envirolite. This is about the minimum you could use. http://www.theonlineelectricalwholesaler.com/catalog/products.php?cpath=88_254_256
if i were you id spend the money and buy feminized seeds, so you wont waste valuable tiem growing males.
