Hi, i have made 4 clones and wanted to know can u tell if the cloned worked or not before the 8 - 14 days? i didnt use rockwool pellets so they might not work. any ways to tell? and what % chance is ther form it working in soil not rookwool? thanks
You should already know the results by now, but here goes. You don't really need to use rockwool cubes or peat pots, they're neat and easy to use but not neccesary. The leaves will probably droop down a little at first from shock, if they recover that means the cutting is still alive. If the leaves start growing, that means the clone has rooted and you were successful. With little rockwool cubes, you can see the roots grow out through the sides.
Clones can root directly into soil but an easy way without access to cubes is fiberglas insulation. You wrap the cutting in a 1 inch ball of the loose woven insulation and place that in a cup of potting soil. The roots will get air in the insulation just like a cube but it needs to be kept moist of course. Clones often take a while to root anyways so just give them tlc and time. Some might make it however you do it. BOG
