I bought in China a vocabulary improving book originally published by Townsend Press. It claims it's the vocabulary book used most prevalently by collage students in America. But I doubt that, because I think its words are too easy. Now I list fifteen of the words it presents and you americans help me to see if they'r the level for your collage students. Thank you very much. charisma conversely poignant proponent traumatic abstain aspire benevolent agnostic deficit mandatory affiliate alleviate intrinsic virile
I don't think that college students in America use vocabulary books. But all of those words are in the dictionary.
Those words should be at least middle school level. (Ages 11-15 grades 6-8) At least that was the level when I was in that age group.
I teach undergraduates and anticipate very few of them would get every one of those words right. They would be more of less right with the majority of them, though.
