Bowies earlier stuff is awesome, specially when stoned!

Not convinced about his new stuff tho!

Do the songs for this 'forum compilation' need to be about weed or just good songs that go with weed?

For example 'Rainy Day Women #12 & #35' whilst a bit of a laugh, is not really a great Dylan song nor is it an especially nice song to listen to stoned.

Many greater examples have been mentioned on this thread.

Of course a mix of both is the best... I think jefferson airplane - white rabbit is great, because it's about weed (and shrooms and pills and the whole lot), and is also amazing to listen to when high... really lifts you up.

Other songs that I really like listening to when high:
Radiohead - Kid A (especially the part when there's near-silence and you hear a string coming up and the weird keyboardmelody comes in again... man I almost fainted when I heard that for the first time.. it's amazing...)
Radiohead - everything in its right place
Radiohead - Sail to the Moon
Radiohead - Exit Music (for a film)

Well I just love radiohead, so actually all of their songs would do (except the pablo honey and the bends albums)

Uhm... does anybody know Bad Brains - Jah Calling? It's this amazing reggae tune, it's instrumental and it's just this very trippy guitar solo...

Of course some ska to make everybody dancing around happily...

And Comptine d'un Autre été: L'après-midi... it's an amazing piece of piano music from the film Amelie.

Somebody mentioned Ben Harper, I don't really know his music, but I do know a good friend of his who makes more or less the same type of music, but it's happier, don't worry-music. His name is Jack Johnson and I'm a big fan.

My last suggestion would be Don't panic by Coldplay... really makes you feel comfortable.

And of course Pink Floyd, the Dead, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, George Baker... but I reckon they've already been mentioned.

Another one- China Grove by the doobie brothers.

the album it's on, "what were once vices are now habits", was the sound track of the mid '70's pot party.

Smoke on the Water eh? Actually it's about a bonfire. It does fit decently though.

Have you listened to Magic Carpet Ride - Steppenwolf? I always hear this verse that makes me think. It says something like "I looked around and all I could find was a lousy camel.". Now if you thought about it it could mean (even though it probably doesn't) that he was looking for a joint or marijuana or some kind of drug but he could only find a camel (cigarette). I don't know. It's probably not that but it always makes me think that.

You say what songs should be included? Doesn't that also depend on your taste of music? If the CD had some alternative rock it could include Smokin' the Herb Again - Incubus.

    There's a bunch more but I can't think.
