Native American, Shamanism...

Hi everyone. I was just wondering if anyone knows of any type of homestay type thing with anyone on a native american reservation, or anything of the sort? I've tried looking online, but haven't found anything. Understandably, it's probably not going to be like "come white people, share this land that you let us keep, the worst and smallest of our formerly vast, beautiful home.' But the place where I am in my life right now, I'm trying to find my path, and my spirit is really pulling me to the native americans. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. aho!

 

i don't think you really understand what you're asking or saying.

first of all there is no such thing as a THE native american shaminism. there are doctoring tradition societies withing individual indiginous cultures, that are, how do i say, not even everyone in a particular idividual indiginous culture can just go and say, well i wan't to become this and that.

you learn from the land where you are, from the plants and the creatures and if you're in a place, in the outward signs of how you look at things, how you are becoming, that someone in one of these doctoring lodges sees you as someone they would like to have among them, well then that is how someone gets invited to START learning. and it is a learning that goes on for the rest of your life. but it's not something YOU choose, like going to community college and saying i want to become a rocket scientest or something.

i think this is the respect issue iron badger was refering to over in the dreams forum in the thread about fox dreams.

really if you honestly want to learn something and are willing to work at it, you need to get to know the tribal elders of the people indiginous to where you are. i mean be responsible friends to them, and not with any other object then to do so.

and then, you can't expect to become something other then who and what it is in yourself to be. and you can't just make that so by saying it is or wanting it to be.

whatever you are is the best you anyone can be.

if more then that is ment to happen, it will unfold as it must.

what you are seeking will not ease your path, but bring many times more challanges to it. the biggest and first may be to learn not to demand of nature and reality what may not also be in yourself, however much you may want it to be.

you would love the carlos castaneda series. i suggest you look him up. don't let anyone tell you what you can or can't do. go where you're heart pulls you.
