so, i've made quite a few necklaces and bracelets to sell at a market next tuesday. what i'm wondering is, what else could i make with hemp, instead of necklaces/bracelets, that would be simple and original.
also, i'd like to learn some new knots and techniques, such as making the jewelry wider...could anyone tell me how i could do that? (without using thicker thread)

    thanks!

    peace&love

to amke my necklaces fatter i double up the thread, either on the outside or the insie(mostly the outside as too thick i cant get my beads through!)

you could make some anclets too, they would be cool.
there are loads of things you could make....iv started makinf sandles

I have a couple books that show handbags, vests, & headbands
actually those old macrame plant holders can also be made with hemp.

yeah, i was thinking about just doubling the threads...i think i'll try that and see how it turns out.
i could probably look some stuff up on google or something too, haha...it's always handy.

Hm, this is a good thread.

Did you find anything on google? I'd love to learn a lot of these things.. it'd be nice to have really kickass gifts to give my friends.

Making hats would be superb ;).

i didn't find much on google, only the basic flat and spiral weaves. and i forgot to look up other things i could make...haha.
a hat would be really cool! i don't know how i would make it though. i could probably find a pattern somewhere...
also, belts would be pretty easy to make, i think.

Yeah, I'm assuming belts would be simple. Now I dream of making a hemp hat, haha. That'll consume some time and frustration, fo' sho'.. we'll see if I pull through with it :).

You know what else would be nice to learn? Making those barefoot sandals. Simply gorgeous.

that's sweet. when i bought my last bunch of hemp, i saw a bunch of different coloured ones...i was going to buy the orange, but it wasn't as good a deal as the regular hemp. hah, but yeah...that's a good idea. i'll definitely try it sometime. :)

i made a hemp belt once. it was really easy, thick, and nice, and i wear it a lot. people say it could pass for something in a store, except i had a little trouble ending it because i ran out of hemp. other than that, its wonderful :)

do you just tie the ends together, or did you put some sort of clasp on it?

the belt? i had a big wooden ring on one end, and the other end was gonna be able to pull through and tie i think, but i ran out of hemp length. its really hard to describe how i get it to stay on, but it works. also, the belt is mostly macreme, but using simple and basic knots. it also makes your pants smell good :)
