I just made my second batch of home-made veggie burgers and I swear they can't be cooked. Both of the burgers i've made were bean-based (kidney & garbanzo) and I cooked them on a skillet, until each side was browned; yet they were still smushing out of the bun when I bit down. What gives? I've never had a commercial veggie burger so as far as I know that's the consistency they're supposed to be, but I kinda doubt it.
i make these amazing black bean burgers and i cook them in the oven. The outside gets crispy, thus holding it all together, and the inside stays soft. they are delicious!! jsdfoiphoihdfg
Its possible theres too much liquid. I use bread crumbs or oats to bind them, and a little liquid for consistency.
My college makes lentil burgers as part of their health food program...they are quite good... I'm not sure what you would put in them though...also they make falafel burgers...which I've had previously..
Does anywhere here have any veggie burger recipes involving brown rice and lentils? I've been looking for a good one.
Wow. You're lucky. My school claims to have veggie options, but they are pretty bad. The salad bar is the same day in, day out.
