aight man. Whip out the iron and try to locate me! J/K. I suppose that would put a person to sleep. In a weird way, being hit over the head with an iron might even be a groovy experience (no joke).

Warm milk with honey also helps. Mint and chamoile tea. Chamommile tea too, but i prefer it with the mint.

if its really important that u sleep - I do this.go to bed, imagine a singular point of light and concentrate on it - if anything else comes into your head just mentally send it down the tube into the point of light.Thats not a spiritual thing it's just something I used to do when I discovered I couldnt get to sleep when in bed with a woman for some reason - well mainly that I was randy as fuck and she was tired from the factory

Smoking a menthol cigerette? So a non menthal wouldn't work?

Oh and um, cigerettes speed up the heart rate and breathing and make getting to sleep take longer... that is of course unless you can't sleep cause you haven't had a cigerette in a while.

(edit- i see someone all ready mentioned this)

    1. Doing something relaxing that requires little to NO thought a half hour to an hour before bed- this does NOT include reading unless it's a boring read

    2. If you have a lot on your mind about two hours before bed, take ten minutes to write everything down and then promise yourself not to think when you go to sleep

    3. When you are laying in bed, if you don't feel tired but need to get to sleep, don't think about sleeping at all- just think about how good it feels to lay on a nice, soft, comfortable bed

    4. Sleeping pills (okay, so maybe not a healthy one, but in a bind I love using them)

    5. Relaxing things like lavender water on pillow or a bath before bed

Oh and btw, alcohol does sometimes help someone to fall asleep (a few glasses of wine make many people very tired) and of course alcohol can make you pass out... but alcohol actually disturbs your sleep to the point where you're really not getting any true REM sleep....

    Mmmmm btw, sleeeep

I get sleepy sitting here looking at Hip Forums in a dark room. Turn off your lights and concentrate on the computer or the TV. It will make your eyes tired and you'll feel like sleeping.

Oh also, turn on a semi boring tv show, lay down on the couch and tell yourself you are just resting your eyes.

That does it for me almost every night.

Me too- it's common. When you're not worried about sleeping and just relaxed, sleep comes. If you lay down, have six hours til you gotta get up for work and you're laying there thinking "I gotta sleep NOW!" it creates anxiety and chases away sleep.

That's why I found not thinking about sleep but thinking about "oh, it's so nice to just LAY here on these covers" helps me sleep....
