john waters' desperate living: any comment?

i'm fighting to put my hands on a copy of desperate living ("nova punk story" in italy, but it's definitely impossible to find) and i'd like to know if in your opinion that movie is worth my dimes. btw i'm going to buy polyester too. yes, I fell in love with mink stole ;-P

 

i haven't seen this movie, but i just had to say that john waters makes some really great movies. mink stole is pretty great, too.

have you seen serial mom? now that's a great movie.

 

didnt' find it at the local movie rentals. but it's likely I'm going to find it somewhere , since there is an italian version of it. What's hard to get here are Waters' older movies like pink flamingos , multiple maniacs , desperate living (never issued in my language) and some of his newer ones, like a dirty shame . btw have you seen that?

I think that it is one the better of John Waters earlier films, so if you like his other early films, you will probably like it.

 

I've never seen Desperate Living, but seen Pink Flamingos (eating dogshit), Polyester (odorama scratch 'n' sniff) and not long ago, saw A Dirty Shame, a tamed down Waters flick, but still had some moments. Like Tracey Ullman doin the The Hokey Pokey.

 

that's too bad , Desperate Living is a masterpiece of trash , though the "gross" factor is not as stressed as in PF.
p.s. what means hockey pokey ?

 

I take it you never saw "A Dirty Shame". Without giving too much away, Hokey Pokey is a dance that they got into visiting an old folks home and Sylvia Stickles (Tracey Ullman) gets a little horny.

I don't know why I have never seen Desperate Living, but I have to check it out soon for sure. I get a kick out of Waters trash
